Certified Sales & Rentals is growing, and we're on the lookout for a passionate, detail-driven Parts Technician, whose primary responsibilities are sourcing and purchasing all mechanical components and parts required to perform mechanical service work. The Parts Technician receives and processes purchase order requests in a timely manner and follows up regularly with suppliers to monitor part delivery times. This position also performs other functions including checking inventory for product availability, price quotations, and providing delivery status updates internally. What You’ll Be Doing
- Parts & Inventory Management
- Source and order all parts required for jobs
- Provide accurate estimates based on part and equipment specifications provided
- Mark materials with identifying information using appropriate methods
- Verify that all part numbers and descriptions are recorded and entered correctly
- Collaborate with the Lead Service Writer to monitor delivery lead times and scheduling requirements, adjusting as needed to accommodate urgent orders
- Contact multiple suppliers during the quoting process to ensure competitive pricing and effective supplier relationships, as required
- Respond to incoming calls and email inquiries, routing communications to the appropriate individuals as necessary
- Process and receive purchase orders through Sage 300
- Parts Ordering & Quoting
- Ensure that detailed notes are kept current and maintained regularly
- Ensure that tracking details include accurate information
- Receive items into Sage 300
- Purchasing & Inventory
- Maintain mechanical parts inventory levels aligned with demand trends
- Monitor and set min/max levels based on inventory turnover
- Ensure stock levels consistently meet operational requirements
- Order mechanical parts and shop supplies to maintain adequate inventory levels
- Follow-up with suppliers regarding purchase orders issued to confirm arrival dates, stock availability, etc.
- Generate and review expediting order reports weekly
- Perform physical cycle and annual inventory counts
- Workorder Coordination & Support
- Respond to inquiries regarding parts, providing accurate estimates and explanations regarding status, available goods, and delivery timelines
- Maintain ongoing communication with the Lead Service Writer regarding updates on parts requested
- Shipping & Receiving
- Verify received and distributed products
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in orders
- Provide pick list or order pick up details to the Parts Runner/Shop Hand
- Ensure that the Parts Runner/Shop Hand is assigned and performs all parts running and picking up orders within city limits
What You Bring to the Table
- Minimum Grade 12, or equivalent
- Parts Technician Journeyperson, Parts Management Technician certification, or similar field of study or certification is considered an asset
- Minimum two (2) years work experience in a mechanical shop, parts management, administration, or similar role is an asset
- Previous experience with purchasing and issuing purchase orders is an asset
- Knowledge of parts and ability to identify parts in both automotive and heavy equipment service applications
- Knowledge of industry suppliers and strategic sourcing connections
- Experience with ProDemand, All Data, or Mitchell automotive repair software preferred
- Basic inventory maintenance and verification skills
- Proficiency with basic computer operations and Microsoft Office 365 applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Valid Driver’s license
- Strong ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Strong time-management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to handle competing priorities simultaneously; work well under pressure with time-sensitive deadlines
- Possess a positive and professional attitude, set a high standard, and convey professionalism at all times
- Any valid safety-related training certificates would be considered an asset
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities
