Miners Construction Co. Ltd. is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our team in Saskatoon.
Established in 1911, Miners Construction is a Saskatchewan-based general contractor delivering complex projects across a wide range of sectors. Our work includes water and wastewater infrastructure, schools, sports and recreation facilities, medical facilities, long-term care, commercial and industrial buildings, major renovations, and Design-Build projects.
We are looking for a Senior Estimator who can take ownership of projects ranging from approximately $2 million to $20 million and lead the estimating process from initial opportunity review through bid submission and turnover to the construction team.
This is not a position focused solely on quantity takeoffs. We are looking for someone who understands construction, can develop a bid strategy, identify risk and opportunity, build strong subcontractor coverage, and help determine how we pursue and win work.
The Role
As Senior Estimator, you will lead estimates and pursuits across a diverse range of project types and delivery models.
· Leading complete estimates from initial tender review through bid submission and project handover.
· Reviewing drawings, specifications, addenda, contracts, schedules, and procurement requirements.
· Developing bid strategies, scopes of work, tender packages, and subcontractor coverage plans.
· Completing quantity takeoffs and developing pricing for self-performed work.
· Soliciting, reviewing, levelling, and negotiating subcontractor and supplier quotations.
· Identifying project risks, scope gaps, constructability concerns, schedule constraints, and cost-saving opportunities.
· Developing preliminary schedules, general conditions, site logistics plans, and project execution strategies.
· Participating in value engineering, constructability reviews, design development, and budget updates.
· Working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, consultants, subcontractors, clients, and company leadership.
· Leading bid reviews and providing clear recommendations on pricing, risk, and project strategy.
· Supporting the transition of successful projects from estimating into construction.
· Contributing to the continued development of our estimating systems, historical cost information, and preconstruction capabilities.
The Projects
Our work is diverse, and we are looking for an estimator who enjoys that variety. Projects may include:
· Water Treatment Plants, Sewage Pumping Stations and Lift Stations
· Schools and Educational Facilities
· Sports and Recreation Complexes
· Medical and Healthcare Facilities
· Long-Term Care Facilities
· Commercial and Industrial Buildings
· Pre-Engineered Buildings
· Major Renovations and Additions
· Occupied and Phased Construction
Our projects are delivered through a variety of models, including Stipulated Price, Design-Build, Construction Management, Negotiated Work, and Preconstruction Services.
Experience in every sector or delivery model is not required. Strong estimating fundamentals, construction knowledge, and the ability to understand and price complex projects are more important.
What You Bring
The successful candidate will ideally have:
· Significant experience in commercial, institutional, industrial, or civil construction estimating.
· Experience independently leading estimates for projects in the $2 million to $20 million range.
· Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, subcontractor scopes, and project risk.
· The ability to read and understand architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, and electrical drawings and specifications.
· Experience with competitive tenders and collaborative delivery models.
· Strong organizational and communication skills.
· The ability to manage multiple active estimates and competing deadlines.
· A practical, construction-focused approach to estimating.
· The confidence to lead bid reviews and provide recommendations to company leadership.
Strong relationships within the Saskatchewan construction, subcontractor, and supplier market would be considered an asset.
A construction-related degree, diploma, engineering designation, quantity surveying background, or equivalent field experience would also be considered an asset. However, practical construction knowledge and a proven estimating track record are equally important.
Compensation
We recognize the impact that a strong Senior Estimator has on the success of a construction company and believe the position should be compensated accordingly.
Target total annual compensation is $120,000–$200,000, based on experience and performance.
The compensation package includes a competitive base salary, significant performance-based bonus opportunity, and a comprehensive benefits package. Exceptional performance may result in compensation above the stated range.
Why Miners Construction?
At Miners Construction, the Senior Estimator has a meaningful role in the direction of the company.
You will have the opportunity to lead major and technically challenging pursuits, work directly with company leadership and experienced construction teams, and influence which projects we pursue and how we win them.
We offer the stability of a Saskatchewan construction company established in 1911, combined with a diverse and evolving project portfolio. This position provides an opportunity to help strengthen our estimating and preconstruction capabilities while playing a key role in the continued growth of the company.
If you are an experienced estimator who enjoys complex projects, competitive pursuits, and having a meaningful influence on project strategy, we would like to hear from you.
