Full job description

The job description for the position of HVAC Technician for Pro-Western Mechanical Ltd. is outlined below. This full-time permanent role supports the Service department by performing installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of residential and commercial HVAC and plumbing systems. The position requires 40 hours per week and may include participation in an on-call rotation.

Pro-Western Mechanical works across western Canada. We provide complete mechanical services, specializing in multi-dwelling residential: condos, apartments, hotels and light industrial/commercial.

This position requires a level 3 or higher apprenticeship.

Responsibility and Activities:

Assisting with the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of both commercial and residential, plumbing and HVAC systems.
Attending to service calls on a variety of HVAC equipment
Performing preventive maintenance and minor repairs for various HVAC systems.
Troubleshooting and repairing including light plumbing tasks.
Assisting the service teams and projects with various tasks

Qualifications: HVAC Technician requires a combination of technical and soft skills to perform their duties effectively. Here are some key skills that are beneficial for the position:

Effective Communication: Clearly explaining HVAC systems to customers and working well with colleagues.
Technical Skills: Trouble shooting and diagnostics with electrical control knowledge.
Knowledge of Plumbing and Brazing: Familiarity with plumbing systems and the ability to join metal parts using brazing techniques.
Preventative Maintenance: Conducting routine checks and maintenance to prevent system failures.
Problem-Solving: Troubleshooting issues with electrical circuits and components.
Physical Strength and Manual Dexterity: Handling heavy equipment and performing tasks that require fine motor skills.
Basic Math and Communication Skills: Performing calculations and effectively communicating with team members and clients.
Flexibility: Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Ability to be on call rotation.

OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

Job Requirements:

Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence
Technical trade certification
Experience and proven track record in the HVAC service field
Ability to work alone and as part of a team

Schedule:

The candidate MUST be available to be part of the on-call rotation. When on call, they will be required to attend and be available on a 24-7 basis for one week in every three.
