THL Gourmet Foods Inc. is one of the leading importers and distributors of Asian food products from the Pacific Rim and other regions of the world.
We are looking for a dependable and safety-minded Warehouse Freezer Assembler to join our Toronto distribution centre. In this position, you will help ensure frozen products are accurately picked, safely handled, and prepared for on-time delivery to our customers.
This is a full-time opportunity for someone who enjoys active, hands-on work in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Previous warehouse or freezer experience is an asset but is not required. We provide the training, protective equipment, and support needed to succeed in the role.
Position Summary:
The Warehouse Freezer Assembler supports the daily inbound and outbound operations of our freezer department. The primary responsibilities include picking and assembling orders, operating material-handling equipment, replenishing inventory, and preparing products for shipment.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a freezer environment, committed to safe work practices, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately pick, assemble, and stack frozen products onto pallets according to packing slips, customer orders, and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Build, wrap, label, and secure pallets for shipment.
- Safely operate electric-powered material-handling equipment, including pallet riders, reach trucks, forklifts, and pallet jacks.
- Transport incoming inventory and place products into designated storage locations, including high-bay racking, using a reach truck.
- Assist with receiving, stock replenishment, inventory movement, and the loading and unloading of trailers or trucks.
- Support shipping, freight handling, returns processing, and customer pickup operations as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the freezer and other warehouse areas.
- Follow all company safety policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and food-handling requirements.
- Report damaged products, equipment concerns, inventory discrepancies, and workplace hazards promptly.
- Perform other related warehouse duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to learn new processes and equipment quickly.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to order accuracy.
- Ability to work efficiently and safely in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Willingness and ability to work regularly in a freezer environment at approximately –22°C.
- Ability to perform the essential physical duties of the position, including prolonged standing, bending, reaching, and repetitive lifting of up to 50 lbs. (23 kg), with accommodation where required by applicable law.
- Commitment to following workplace safety requirements and Standard Operating Procedures.
Assets / Nice-to-Haves:
- Previous warehouse, distribution centre, cold-storage, or freezer experience.
- Previous experience operating a forklift, reach truck, pallet rider, or similar material-handling equipment.
- Current forklift or reach-truck certification is an asset; training may be provided to the successful candidate where required.
- Additional language skills, including Cantonese or Mandarin, may be helpful when communicating within our diverse workplace but are not required for this position.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time, onsite position based at our Toronto distribution centre.
- Regular work in a freezer environment at approximately –22°C.
- Company-required freezer clothing and protective equipment will be provided.
- Physically active work involving standing, walking, bending, reaching, and repetitive lifting throughout the shift.
- Regular operation of powered material-handling equipment after successful completion of the required training and authorization.
Working Hours:
- Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
- 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM (8-hour shifts), including a 30-minute unpaid meal break.
- Availability to work occasional Saturday shifts based on operational requirements.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Base Hourly Wage: $18.66 to $24.95
- Freezer Premium: An additional $4.00 per hour for eligible hours worked in designated freezer areas, in accordance with Company policy.
