Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a talented and creative Decorator to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cake artistry and presentation, with a minimum of 2 years' experience in decorating cakes and cupcakes for various occasions. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your creativity in a fun, fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

What Your Role Looks Like

Be responsible for reviewing production schedules, accurately measuring and mixing ingredients, making Swiss meringue buttercream, fillings and fondant decor
Fill and decorate signature and custom cupcakes and cakes, paying close attention to ensure details are exactly as the customer requested
Ensure each product leaving the kitchen meets our high standards of freshness and appearance; spot check for consistency in colours and quality in flavour and texture
Receive and check food orders and supplies from vendors when Lead Baker + Decorator/Bakery Manager are not available
Identify any supplies that are running low and notify the Bakery Manager
Coordinate the orders for the day, ensuring each order has been accurately completed, is clearly labeled and is ready for pick-up or delivery; communicate any specific details with the Retail Team
Work alongside your team to keep your station and the bakery clean, using the daily, weekly and monthly cleaning checklists as per Island Health guidelines
Participate in creating new feature cupcakes and product ideas
Contribute ideas for marketing and social media posts

Why You're a Great Fit

You have your Level 1 Food Safe certification (or committed to getting it within 30 days)
You have a minimum of 2 years' decorating experience, preferably in a commercial kitchen
You work independently to complete tasks as required with minimal direction
You're a team-player and do whatever it takes to make the kitchen and your coworkers thrive
You take pride in your work and are committed to producing high quality results
You have a positive can-do attitude and good organizational skills
You are punctual and great at managing your time
You have reliable transportation
You’re keen to comply with procedures, rules & regulations to ensure a clean and safe workplace

Physical Requirements

Continuous standing/walking for all tasks
Frequent lifting and carrying up to 22 kg (48lbs)
Frequent turning and reaching
Occasional pushing, pulling and some forward bending
Constant use of both hands, with frequent wrist rotation and flexing, occasional forceful gripping
Able to work in a warm kitchen environment with limited personal space

Note: There is no LMIA available for this position.

Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32.0 – 40.0 per week
