We are currently seeking a Preschool Resource Teacher to join our team. All employees of Sooke Family Resource Society are dedicated to serving the community and committed to supporting the society’s mission statement.

Term: September 8, 2026 to December 18, 2026 subject to extension based on Supported Child Development (SCD) funding

Reports To: Children and Family Services Program Manager

Wage: $27.53 to $31.57/ hour (JJEP Grid 10)

Location: Sooke

Shift Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays 12:30pm to 3:30pm

Job Summary:

The Kingfisher Preschool Resource Teacher works with the Preschool Supervisor to support all aspects of the preschool daily operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Develops and maintains positive relationships with childcare program children and families.

2. Works with the supervisor to plan and implement the childcare programs.

3. Provides support to children with identified support needs and their families in conjunction with Supported Child Development

4. Works with the supervisor to maintain a safe and developmentally appropriate learning environment.

5. Assists with the set-up, delivery, and clean-up of the daily program.

6. Maintains cleanliness and order of the preschool facility.

7. Assists with the evaluation of children’s development, maintains records of observations, and makes early intervention recommendations as needed.

8. Attends meetings with other childcare, education, medical, and child welfare professionals and families as needed.

9. Participates in open house and meet-the-teacher events for new families.

10. Assist with fundraising activities as needed.

11. Attend SFRS annual general meeting and staff meetings as required.

12. Perform other related duties as required.

Education & Experience:

ECE-1 year certificate, including the Special Needs Certificate or a Behaviour Interventionist Certificate.
One (1) year recent related experience.
Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
