Full job description

We are looking for line and prep cooks for our very busy food truck. The position will start part time and if everything works out there is an option to move to full time.

Tips range between $7-15 extra PER HOUR

Schedule can be slightly flexible. Must be able to work weekends.

Job Summary: We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Line and Prep Cook to join our dynamic team at a busy food truck. As a cook, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals, ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly, and contributing to a positive customer experience. The ideal candidate is experienced in both line cooking and food prep, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about delivering delicious food.

Key Responsibilities:

Line Cook Responsibilities:

Cook and prepare food items according to our menu and recipes, ensuring quality and consistency.
Set up and maintain the kitchen station with necessary equipment, utensils, and supplies.
Monitor food inventory and assist in ensuring proper stock levels.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cooking line and workstations.
Plate food in an aesthetically pleasing manner and ensure it is delivered to customers promptly.
Follow all safety and sanitation standards in food preparation and handling.
Work closely with the food truck team to ensure smooth service during peak hours.

Prep Cook Responsibilities:

Prepare ingredients and food items in advance for cooking, such as chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and preparing sauces.
Assist in daily inventory checks and ensure proper storage of ingredients.
Keep work areas clean and organized, following all hygiene and food safety standards.
Assist in rotating stock and keeping track of expiration dates to minimize waste.
Follow instructions from the chef or lead cook on menu preparation and portion sizes.

Additional Responsibilities:

Assist with setting up the food truck for service and packing up at the end of the day.
Communicate effectively with other kitchen staff, including dishwashers and front-of-house personnel.
Adhere to food truck's schedule, ensuring that service begins and ends on time.
Maintain a positive attitude and work ethic in a busy, high-energy environment.
Ensure all food is prepared and served to the highest quality and presentation standards.

Qualifications:

Previous experience as a line cook, prep cook, or in a similar kitchen role (preferred).
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
Ability to multitask and stay organized.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to follow instructions and recipes with attention to detail.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in a hot and busy environment.
