Job Summary:
We are looking for a Produce Manager to join our Squamish store. This role will oversee the operations and display for the fresh food items like produce and dairy within the store, while managing the Produce team!
As the Produce Manager, this role will focus on ensuring quality and freshness of all produce and perishable items. Further responsibilities will include ordering of raw product and supplies for the department and implementing merchandising initiatives that promote sales, while meeting customer requirements and maximizing profits.
Our ideal candidate will have previous retail experience, has expertise in supervising and guiding staff towards maximum performance, and a love of produce!
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff

Oversees the daily workflow of the department

Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations

Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy
Duties/Responsibilities:
-
Plan and merchandise produce display cases based on seasonal availability

Keep shelves fully stocked with fresh products
-
Ensure all receiving invoices are accurate when items are received and request credit for lost, missing or poor-quality products from supplier

Manage high rotation inventory and shrinkage; conduct regular inventory counts

Monitor that regular deep cleaning tasks are maintained in order to uphold the working condition of all coolers, produce tables, and displays

Assist customers to the appropriate aisle or shelve to assist with purchasing decisions

Ensure the store is clean, safe and ready for shoppers

Process cash register payments by cash, credit card, gift card, and debit

Balance and reconcile cash at beginning of work shift

Rotation, loading and unloading of grocery department product

Backroom and inventory management

Performs other related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Able to meet a flexible with work schedule including weekends, early morning and evenings

Excellent interpersonal skills with staff and customers

A proven team player and who is also team-focused

Strong problem solving and in-the-moment decision-making skills, process improvement, strategic planning, verbal communication, customer focus, management proficiency

Skilled at prioritizing tasks and to delegate them when appropriate

Able to function well in a high-paced environment

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Education and Experience:
-
A minimum of 2 years of demonstrable experience in a supervisory capacity at a retail store, or similar

Experience operating a point-of-sale systems
Physical Requirements:
-
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Prolonged periods of standing and walking

Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times and carry moderately heavy loads, such as stock items, supplies, or equipment

Able to bend, stoop, and kneel to inspect merchandise, shelves, and storage areas
