Position Summary:

Proudly based in Stratford, Ontario, the firm of Crawford Lawyers is a leader in civil litigation. Our clients trust us to handle matters relating to construction law, shareholder oppression cases, employment disputes, estates litigation, and real estate litigation. As the firm continues to grow, we are looking for a Civil Litigation Lawyer to join our team.

For an ambitious and motivated litigation lawyer, Crawford Lawyers is the ideal firm at which to manage your own files, appear in court, and argue cases. Crawford Lawyers offers all its staff opportunities for professional advancement, as well as the guidance and mentorship of experienced civil litigation counsel.

Crawford Lawyers offers the right candidate a competitive base salary commensurate with experience. Lawyers also enjoy a generous performance-based bonus. The bonus structure is formula-based, not discretionary and, as such, bonus payments are guaranteed upon achieving annual targets.

Primary Responsibilities:

Conduct legal research, draft legal documents, and prepare arguments for court proceedings.
Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, expert witnesses, court staff, and other parties involved in the cases.
Attend court hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences as required.
Collaborate with the owner lawyer to develop case strategies and provide legal advice to clients.
Carriage of civil litigation matters on behalf of the firm’s clients.

Requirements:

LL.B. or J.D. degree from a recognised law school.
Called to the Ontario Bar and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
1-5 years of experience practising civil litigation. Experience with construction lien proceedings in particular will be considered an asset.
Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Detail-oriented with strong organisational abilities.
Proficiency in legal research tools and MS Office Suite.

This is an in-person position based in Stratford, Ontario. While hybrid arrangements may be considered on a case-by-case basis, the strong preference will be for a candidate who is willing and able to work in-person at our downtown Stratford office.
