We are seeking a skilled clerk to join our Law Clerk/Legal Assistant to work in the practice area of civil and commercial litigation. Our civil and commercial litigation team has quality and diverse files that provide challenging, fast-paced and interesting work in a dynamic, collegial team environment. We pride ourselves on excellence in everything we do, every day.

Key Responsibilities:

Preparing, assembling and organizing legal documents including, but not limited to, pleadings, discovery and affidavits of documents
Preparing trial briefs, exhibits and motions as required
Filing court documents in compliance with procedural rules
Maintaining electronic document files and correspondence
Manage crucial dates, deadlines and calendars
Liaise with client, court staff, and other legal professionals as directed
Transcribing digital dictation
Attending and participating in team and supervision meetings
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Required Qualifications

Post-secondary education (college diploma/certificate Paralegal, Legal Assistant or Law Clerk
At least 3 years experience in civil litigation
Strong understanding of Rules of Civil Procedure
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Automated Civil Litigation (“ACL”) and practice-management software (LEAP) would be an asset
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
Professional, positive, and collaborative approach
Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario (ILCO) certification and/or membership in good standing is considered an asset
