The Role
The Clinical Therapist delivers direct behavioural and therapeutic support services under the clinical supervision of a Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA). This role combines direct client intervention with assessment, clinical program development, clinical coordination, caregiver coaching, case management and treatment implementation to support positive client outcomes.
Clinical Therapists play an integral role in ensuring treatment plans are implemented with fidelity, clinical information is accurately captured, and families and community partners receive consistent support between RBA appointments. They assist the supervising RBA by conducting functional behavioural assessments, developing draft skill acquisition and behaviour support plans, monitoring treatment progress, reviewing behavioural data, preparing clinical summaries, supporting interdisciplinary communication and helping coordinate client services across multiple environments. The supervising RBA directs the clinical work, retains professional responsibility for all assessments, plans and outcomes, and provides ongoing clinical supervision.
This position requires excellent clinical judgement, strong communication skills, exceptional organizational abilities and the capacity to work independently while recognizing when consultation and direction from the supervising RBA are required.
What You'll Do
Assessment & Clinical Program Development
- Conduct functional behavioural assessments (FBAs) under the direction and clinical supervision of the supervising RBA including record and file review, caregiver and stakeholder interviews, indirect assessment, direct observation across relevant settings, preference and reinforcer assessments, and functional analysis where clinically indicated.
- Operationally define target behaviours and skill-acquisition goals, select appropriate measurement systems, and design data collection procedures to support assessment and ongoing progress monitoring.
- Develop and draft individualized Behaviour Support Plans, skill acquisition programs and Safety Plans based on assessment findings
- Prepare draft functional behavioural assessment reports that synthesize findings from multiple sources into a clear clinical rationale, function-based intervention recommendations and measurable goals for the supervising RBA’s clinical determination.
- Recognize the boundaries of the role and seek direction from the supervising RBA on clinical interpretation, assessment findings and plan authorization, which remain the responsibility of the RBA.
Direct Clinical Services
- Deliver individualized behavioural and skill-building interventions based on treatment plans developed under supervision of the RBA.
- Implement Behaviour Support Plans, Safety Plans and individualized programming across home, school, community and clinic settings.
- Support the development of communication, emotional regulation, adaptive living, social and functional life skills through neuro-affirming practices.
- Utilize evidence-based behavioural strategies and therapeutic approaches appropriate to each client.
- Promote client dignity, independence, inclusion and meaningful participation within everyday environments.
Clinical Coordination & Case Management
- Serve as the primary clinical contact between scheduled RBA appointments.
- Coordinate with caregivers, schools, community agencies and interdisciplinary professionals to promote consistency of treatment implementation.
- Monitor client progress and identify emerging clinical concerns requiring review by the supervising RBA.
- Participate in school meetings, case conferences, community consultations and interdisciplinary planning meetings.
- Assist with service coordination, scheduling of clinical priorities and follow-up activities to support continuity of care.
Parent & Caregiver Coaching
- Provide coaching and education to parents, caregivers and support teams using Applied Behaviour Analysis principles and evidence-based teaching strategies.
- Model intervention techniques and support caregivers in implementing treatment recommendations within daily routines.
- Build caregiver confidence through coaching, education and ongoing performance feedback.
- Support the generalization and maintenance of skills across home, school and community environments.
Clinical Documentation & Data Review
- Collect accurate behavioural, program and treatment fidelity data.
- Review behavioural and program data to identify meaningful trends and summarize findings for discussion with the supervising RBA.
- Prepare professional progress summaries, case updates and clinical documentation to support treatment planning.
- Complete objective, timely and professional session notes in accordance with organizational standards.
- Assist the supervising RBA with the preparation of reports, funding updates, treatment recommendations and clinical documentation, including drafting functional behavioural assessment reports and behaviour support plans.
- Synthesize clinical information from multiple sources to support informed clinical decision-making.
Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with Registered Behaviour Analysts, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, physicians, educators, rehabilitation professionals and community partners.
- Participate in clinical supervision, team meetings, case conferences and ongoing professional development.
- Foster positive working relationships with families and community partners while maintaining treatment consistency and professionalism.
- Prepare, facilitate and deliver clinical education, workshops and training sessions for caregivers, community partners, schools, Child and Family Service Agencies, residential providers and interdisciplinary teams.
Professional Practice
- Conduct all assessment and treatment-planning activities under a documented supervision arrangement with the supervising Registered Behaviour Analyst, consistent with the standards of the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO).
- Maintain client confidentiality and comply with PHIPA, the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, the Ontario Autism Program requirements, Quality Assurance Measures and all other applicable legislation.
- Deliver services in accordance with agency policies and the clinical direction of the supervising RBA, in a manner that aligns with the professional standards, ethical expectations and practice requirements established by the CPBAO.
- Recognize and communicate clinical risks promptly to the supervising RBA.
- Maintain a safe therapeutic environment for clients, families and staff.
- Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, flexibility and sound clinical judgement in all aspects of service delivery.
What We're Looking For
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Behavioural Science, Psychology or Applied Behaviour Analysis (preferred); or Child and Youth Care, Developmental Services, Social Services or another related human services discipline with experience in Applied Behaviour Analysis.
- Current enrollment in, or recent acceptance to, a Master's degree in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is considered a strong asset.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience supporting children, youth or adults with autism spectrum disorder, developmental disabilities, acquired brain injury, dual diagnosis, mental health concerns or complex behavioural needs.
- Experience implementing Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) principles and Behaviour Support Plans.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct functional behavioural assessments, including indirect and direct assessment methods, preference and reinforcer assessments, and functional analysis where indicated.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and draft behaviour support plans, skill acquisition programs and safety plans for the review and approval of a supervising Registered Behaviour Analyst.
- Working knowledge of functional behaviour assessment methodology, function-based intervention design and single-subject (single-case) measurement.
- Experience providing caregiver coaching and collaborating within interdisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of, or experience working alongside, First Nations, Inuit and Métis individuals, families, communities and service organizations, with a demonstrated commitment to cultural humility, reconciliation and culturally safer care.
- Strong understanding of data collection, behavioural measurement and progress monitoring.
- Exceptional organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while recognizing when consultation with the supervising RBA is required.
- Demonstrated professionalism, compassion and person-centred practice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within the Ontario Autism Program, Child Welfare, Children's Special Needs, rehabilitation or community-based behavioural services.
- Experience participating in interdisciplinary case conferences and system collaboration.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, Positive Behaviour Support and neurodiversity-affirming practice.
- Fluency in an additional language is considered an asset.

- Current Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).
- Broad Record Check (where required by the funding agency or service setting).
- Current CPR and First Aid (Level C).
- Current Safe Management Group (SMG) certification.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office, electronic clinical documentation systems and virtual communication platforms.
- Demonstrated mastery of written and spoken English, including the ability to prepare professional clinical documentation, communicate effectively with families and interdisciplinary professionals, and produce clear, concise and grammatically accurate reports, correspondence and case notes.
- Ability to travel throughout assigned service areas.

Position Details
Schedule: The primary work schedule is Monday to Friday. As a community-based clinical role, flexibility is required to accommodate client availability, including occasional afternoon and evening appointments, caregiver meetings, community training sessions and infrequent weekend service delivery.
Work Environment: Anchor provides services wherever our clients live, learn, work and participate in their communities. This position offers a dynamic hybrid work environment that includes a combination of:
- Remote work from a home office for virtual appointments, documentation, clinical meetings and administrative responsibilities.
- In-person services within client homes and community settings.
- Service delivery within schools, childcare programs, residential settings, healthcare facilities and community agencies.
- Meetings, training and collaborative work from Anchor office locations throughout your assigned region.
Regular travel throughout your designated service area is required. Work locations and schedules are determined by client needs, clinical priorities and organizational requirements.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive annual salary commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.
- Hiring Range: $55,000 to $65,000 annual salary with opportunity to advance to the full salary scope of the role over time.
