Financial Controller

Location: Acheson, AB

Are you a CPA with strong leadership skills and a passion for driving financial excellence? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where your expertise helps shape business success?

Summit is looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join our leadership team at our Acheson Head Office. Reporting directly to the President, you'll oversee the full-cycle accounting operations for our growing organization while leading and mentoring a dedicated accounting team.

What You'll Do

As our Financial Controller, you will:

Lead the full-cycle accounting function for multiple operating branches
Prepare monthly financial statements,and trial balances
Manage year-end financial reporting and coordinate the annual audit
Develop and oversee the annual budgeting process
Ensure compliance with all statutory reporting and remittances
Oversee daily bank reconciliations and cash reporting
Manage payroll and employee benefits administration
Provide financial analysis and ad hoc reporting to support business decisions
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of three accounting professionals
Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiencies, and internal controls

What You Bring

We're looking for a confident leader who combines technical accounting expertise with a collaborative leadership style.

Qualifications include:

CPA designation (preferred)
3–5 years of accounting experience in a multi-branch environment
Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting and GAAP
Experience preparing annual budgets and financial reporting
Payroll and benefits administration experience
Previous experience leading or supervising a small accounting team
Strong coaching, mentoring, and leadership skills
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a dynamic environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Transportation or dealership industry experience is considered an asset
