Full job description

About the Role:

TAGLC is seeing a full or part time Appointment Clerk to support the City Pickup and Delivery (P&D) Dispatch room, you will play a crucial role in coordinating the booking of appointment freight within our city. You will be responsible for communicating with customers to coordinate freight deliveries ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining effective communication with drivers, customers, and other stakeholders.

This shift Monday-Friday, 14:00 - 22:30.

However, during vacations, illnesses or other unexpected situations, you may be required to cover a different position or schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

Dispatch Operations:

Schedule appointments and monitor the booking processes and customer portals.
Liaising with customers to advise of delays or delivery requirements.
Supporting the dispatch office and other team members.

Routing and Logistics:

Develop efficient routing plans and update routes in real-time using software and GPS.
Identify opportunities for route optimization and cost savings.

Communication and Customer Service:

Maintain constant communication with drivers and respond to customer inquiries and concerns promptly.
Handle customer complaints professionally to ensure satisfaction.

Documentation and Reporting:

Keep accurate records of dispatch activities and generate reports on delivery performance as needed.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.

Team Collaboration:

Collaborate with other departments to coordinate activities and address issues.
Participate in meetings to discuss performance and process improvements.

Qualifications:

Previous dispatching experience, preferably in a City P&D Environment
Familiarity with transportation management systems and GPS technology is considered an asset
Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Computer literacy
Flexibility to work varied hours
Attention to detail
Knowledge of Edmonton and surrounding area
