Customer Service / Inside Sales Representative

SB Simpson is an industrial distributor that has been family-owned and operated for over 60 years. We are looking for an outgoing and customer-focused Customer Service / Inside Sales Representative to help deliver the SB experience by ensuring our customers receive the products and services they need—when they need them.
In our industry, many customers "needed it yesterday." Success in this role requires a sense of urgency, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
This is an entry-level position that offers the successful candidate an excellent opportunity to learn, develop new skills, and build a long-term career within SB Simpson.

Responsibilities
- Respond to customer inquiries by phone, email, and in person at our walk-in counter
- Source products and prepare customer quotations
- Enter and process customer orders accurately
- Follow up on quotations and customer orders
- Participate in strategic outbound sales initiatives
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships
- Work closely with suppliers and team members to meet customer needs
Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Strong understanding of customer service and a genuine desire to help customers succeed
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism
- Willingness to learn and use online resources to expand product and industry knowledge
- Industrial supply or industrial equipment experience is considered an asset

Bonus Skills That Set You Apart
While not required, the following skills and experience would be considered strong assets:
- Ability to export files and interpret data sets
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including formulas and functions such as VLOOKUP, SUM, SUMIF, and other common calculations
- Ability to work with and understand basic mathematical formulas
- Experience with small electric motors
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Ability to adapt quickly and pivot priorities as new information becomes available
