Full job description

Avon Co-operative Nursery School has been an active part of the Stratford Ontario area since 1953. We are a parent-run co-operative nursery school serving children ages 18 months - 5 years from the City of Stratford and the surrounding area.

We are currently seeking a Registered Early Childhood Educator for one of our preschool classrooms. This is a temporary part-time contract position, Monday to Friday mornings, beginning in September 2026. The position is a temporary leave replacement with an anticipated duration of several months. The exact length of the contract will depend on the return date of the employee on leave.

Qualifications:

Registration, in good standing, with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C Certificate
Clear Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening prior to start date.
Must be able to meet Immunization Requirements in accordance with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA).

Job Description:

This position includes a variety of responsibilities within an early learning environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and qualities:

Experience working with preschool-aged children is considered a definite asset.
Ability to plan and implement engaging activities based on the interests and developmental needs of the children, including creative, gross motor, fine motor, sensory, and social-emotional experiences.
Ability to adapt the daily schedule and programming as needed to provide the best possible experience for the children.
Positive, kind, caring, energetic, and patient.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with children, families, and co-workers.
Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Ability to build positive, respectful relationships with children and their families.
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Confident, approachable, and professional.
Reliable, dependable, and flexible.

Details

This position is Monday to Friday mornings only, no weekends.
The base hours for this position are 7:45am - 12:30pm, with extra paid hours for prep
The hourly wage will be based on qualifications and experience.
Start date for this position is September 8, 2026
