Chippewas of the Thames First Nation is accepting applicants for the position of:

Position Title: Youth Wellness Worker (Repost)

Department: Child, Youth & Family Well-Being Services

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week working onsite 8:30am – 4:30pm (flexibility to work afternoons, evenings, and weekends as required)

Location: 328 Chippewa Road, Muncey ON

Summary:

The Youth Wellness Worker provides prevention-focused support, outreach, mentorship, and programming for youth and young adults of Chippewas of the Thames First Nation. Working within a First Nation context, this position creates safe, supportive, and culturally grounded opportunities that strengthen identity, belonging, leadership, healthy relationships, emotional wellness, and overall well-being for youth living both on and off reserve.

Reporting to the Child & Youth Wellness and Recreation Services Supervisor, the Youth Wellness Worker works collaboratively with families, Elders, schools, health and social service providers, and internal departments to deliver youth-focused programming and connect youth with appropriate community resources. This role promotes prevention, positive development, and culturally safe service delivery while maintaining professional documentation, confidentiality, and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

Plan, coordinate, and facilitate individual, group, and community-based prevention and wellness programming for youth.
Provide outreach, mentorship, advocacy, and practical support to youth and young adults.
Deliver programming focused on leadership, life skills, healthy relationships, emotional wellness, mental health awareness, substance use prevention, and violence prevention.
Support culturally grounded and land-based activities that strengthen Anishinaabe identity, belonging, language, culture, and community connection.
Build respectful relationships with youth, families, Elders, schools, service providers, and community partners.
Assist youth in navigating services, referrals, school supports, and community resources.
Support youth-led initiatives, community events, gatherings, and recreational activities.
Maintain accurate, confidential documentation, case notes, referrals, and program records using approved systems.
Prepare activity reports, program statistics, and contribute to program evaluation and continuous improvement.
Participate in team meetings, community planning, professional development, and collaborative case discussions.
Maintain safe programming environments while following safeguarding practices, organizational policies, and legislative requirements.

Qualifications:

College diploma in Social Service Worker, Child and Youth Care, Community and Justice Services, Human Services, Indigenous Studies, or a related field.
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.
Minimum 1–2 years of experience working with children, youth, and families in a community, recreation, school, or prevention setting.
Experience working within a First Nation or Indigenous community is strongly preferred.
Experience facilitating youth programming, mentorship, outreach, or prevention initiatives is an asset.
Strong understanding of trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally safe practices.
Excellent communication, facilitation, relationship-building, organizational, and documentation skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems; CaseWORKS experience is an asset.
Current CPR/First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain shortly after hire); ASIST, SafeTALK, or Mental Health First Aid training is an asset.
Valid Class G Ontario Driver's Licence, reliable vehicle, required automobile insurance, and successful Police Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
