This position works in the Police – CPIC organizational unit. This is operational and clerical work relative to the provision and receipt of information to and from Canadian Police Information Centers (CPIC). In addition, this position enters information into the Police Records Information Management Environment Systems. An incumbent of this class is responsible for processing operational and clerical assignments accurately and rapidly and for exercising some independent judgement and action on the more routine aspects of the work. After a period of on the job training, incumbents of this class act with a minimum of direct supervision but receive general direction from a supervisor who reviews and evaluates work performance in terms of efficiency in serving the department. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 including or supplemented by word processing, commercial, PRIME and/or CPIC operator's courses, plus some clerical-typing experience preferably in the Police Department; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge of the methods, practices and procedures used in operating CPIC and other police software systems; rules, regulations and policies governing the work performed; clerical and record keeping methods and procedures and of business English, spelling and arithmetic. Ability to memorize applicable system codes and procedures; perform operational and clerical work under general supervision; maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts such as court officials, other police detachments.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP Enhanced Security Clearance.
This is a Temporary Full Time position until April 2, 2027.
