Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Receptionist position located in South Surrey, BC, with the opportunity to train toward a Legal Assistant role within the firm.
We are looking for a candidate who is seeking a long-term opportunity and is interested in growing with our team. This role is best suited for someone who is committed to building a career as a Legal Assistant in a law firm setting, rather than someone seeking short-term or transitional employment while completing NCA qualification exams, licensing requirements, or pursuing another career path.
As the first point of contact for clients, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming and professional environment. This position is ideal for someone who is organized, personable, and eager to build a long-term career in the legal field.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet clients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner
- Answer, screen, and direct phone calls and emails
- Manage the firm’s front desk and reception area, ensuring a professional and organized workspace
- Schedule and confirm appointments for lawyers and clients
- Maintain and update calendars, correspondence logs, and file records
- Process incoming and outgoing mail and courier deliveries
- Assist with basic administrative duties, including photocopying, scanning, and document organization
- Provide support to legal assistants and lawyers as needed
- Participate in training and mentorship programs to transition into a Legal Assistant role over time
Qualifications
- Completion of secondary school required; post-secondary education or certificate in administration is an asset
- Prior office or customer service experience is preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational ability
- Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure
- Interest in pursuing a career in the legal field
- Fluency in Punjabi and/or Hindi is an asset
