Overview
We are seeking a skilled bilingual professional proficient in Punjabi and English to join our team as a Language Interpreter and Translator. This role involves facilitating effective communication across diverse audiences, providing interpretation and translation services, and supporting linguistic projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong language skills, cultural awareness, and excellent communication abilities to ensure accurate and culturally sensitive exchanges. Duties
- Provide interpretation services between Punjabi and English in various settings, including meetings, conferences, and community events.
- Translate written documents, correspondence, and materials from Punjabi to English and vice versa with accuracy and cultural sensitivity.
- Assist with understanding Quebec Sign Language when required, supporting communication for deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals.
- Support linguistic projects by conducting research, editing, and proofreading translated content.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with clients and team members to ensure understanding of linguistic nuances.
- Utilize typing skills to prepare translated documents efficiently and accurately.
- Contribute to the development of multilingual resources and materials for organizational use.
- Interpret complex terminology related to linguistics, interpretation, translation, and related fields as needed.
Skills
- Strong interpretation skills in Punjabi and English with the ability to convey meaning accurately across languages.
- Proficiency in translation with excellent writing skills in both languages.
- Multilingual capabilities including familiarity with Quebec Sign Language are a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to facilitate clear exchanges between diverse populations.
- Knowledge of linguistics principles relevant to translation and interpretation work.
