Raise is currently hiring a Power BI - Business Analyst on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada
Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Power BI Business Analyst / Developer to design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level business intelligence solutions. In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex utility data and strategic decision-making. You will be responsible for transforming large-scale datasets into robust data models and intuitive, high-impact dashboards that empower stakeholders across the organization to make data-driven decisions.
Responsibilities
- Dashboard Development & Data Modeling

Design & Optimize: Architect, build, and maintain enterprise-level Power BI dashboards, reports, and underlying data models.

Semantic Modeling: Create and maintain robust, scalable semantic models using advanced DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and Power Query (M).

Performance Tuning: Optimize report performance through advanced data model tuning, partitioning, and query optimization to ensure seamless user experiences with massive datasets.

Business Analysis & Stakeholder Engagement

Requirement Translation: Partner closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and analysts to translate complex business requirements into effective, scalable analytical solutions.

Data Storytelling: Present complex data findings in a clear, concise manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Governance, Administration & Security

Implement and manage Row-Level Security (RLS) and oversee Power BI workspace permissions to protect sensitive utility data.

Service Administration: Support Power BI Service administration, managing deployment pipelines, scheduled refreshes, and workspace environments.

Ensure data accuracy, consistency, alignment with corporate governance standards, and maintain thorough documentation for data models, reports, and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.

Perform root-cause analysis, troubleshooting, and continuous performance tuning for existing reporting infrastructure.
Qualifications
-
7 years of business analysis working experience in large IT projects in a complex enterprise environment or equivalent

Deep, hands-on experience with Power BI desktop and service, including data modeling, advanced DAX, and Power Query.

Strong experience writing and optimizing SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze data from large-scale relational databases.

Proven track record of working with large-scale, complex datasets to deliver enterprise-ready BI solutions.

Excellent written and spoken communication skills, tailored for a highly professional corporate environment.

Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to identify patterns and insights within messy or disparate data sources.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

Prior experience working within an electrical utility, energy sector, or a heavily regulated public infrastructure environment.

Exposure to or hands-on experience with MS Fabric architecture, OneLake, or lakehouses.

Demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities among diverse stakeholder groups and guide them toward optimal BI solutions.

Education and Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Engineering, or equivalent
Additional Information
Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
