About Kalum Kabs

Kalum Kabs Ltd. has been proudly serving Northwest British Columbia since 1966. We provide taxi, shuttle, airport transfer, industrial transportation, and wheelchair-accessible transportation services throughout Terrace, Thornhill, Kitimat, Haisla Nation, Smithers, and surrounding communities.

As we continue to grow and modernize our operations, we are seeking an Operations & Fleet Manager to lead our day-to-day transportation operations and support our team of professional drivers.

Position Summary

The Operations & Fleet Manager is responsible for the overall management of drivers, fleet operations, customer service, and operational performance.

This position will supervise the Operations Coordinator and work closely with ownership to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services across all service areas.

The successful candidate will be expected to take ownership of daily operations, resolve issues independently, and provide leadership to the team while maintaining high service standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesDriver Management

Recruit, onboard, train, and mentor drivers
Create and manage driver schedules
Manage driver performance and attendance
Conduct disciplinary meetings and terminations when required
Ensure adequate staffing levels across all shifts

Fleet Operations

Oversee fleet availability and utilization
Ensure vehicle inspections and maintenance programs are followed
Work with the Operations Coordinator to manage maintenance scheduling and repairs
Monitor vehicle downtime and operational efficiency
Coordinate with vendors and service providers

Operations Management

Handle customer complaints and service escalations
Ensure compliance with company policies and transportation regulations
Monitor operational KPIs and service performance
Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions
Support continuous improvement initiatives

Leadership

Supervise and support the Operations Coordinator
Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and teamwork
Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews
Report operational performance and key issues to ownership

Compliance & Safety

Support compliance with transportation regulations and company policies
Ensure driver documentation and records are maintained
Promote safe work practices and operational excellence

After-Hours Support

Kalum Kabs operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

While this position follows regular business hours, the successful candidate must be available by phone after hours to support operational emergencies, staffing issues, vehicle incidents, customer escalations, and other urgent matters that impact service delivery.

QualificationsRequired

Minimum 3 years of supervisory or management experience
Strong leadership and people management skills
Experience with employee scheduling and workforce planning
Excellent communication and conflict-resolution abilities
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and business software systems
Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence

Preferred

Transportation, logistics, fleet, taxi, shuttle, or service industry experience
Experience managing a mobile workforce
Knowledge of vehicle maintenance programs
Experience with Fleetio, Samsara, TaxiCaller, Microsoft 365, or similar platforms
Understanding of transportation regulations and compliance requirements
