How You’ll Support the Team
In this role, you will coordinate support service programs, recruit and support volunteers, assess client needs, and connect seniors with valuable community resources. You will also have the following accountabilities:

Recruit, interview, orient, train, supervise, support, and recognize volunteers, ensuring appropriate matches between volunteers and program participants.

Screen and assess program applicants to determine eligibility, needs, interests, and appropriate service options.

Provide information, outreach, and referrals to seniors regarding community programs, services, and supports.

Assist in the development, delivery, promotion, and continuous improvement of support service programs and initiatives.

Support the Telephone Assurance Program, Friendly Visting Program, Snow Angels Program, and respond to participant, volunteer, and program-related concerns.

Maintain accurate and confidential records and build effective relationships with seniors, volunteers, community partners, staff, and the public.

Participate as an active member of the service delivery team and assist the Coordinator, Support Services with program planning and day-to-day operations.

What You’ll Bring to the Team
Here’s what will help you succeed as the Support Services Specialist:

Degree in a human services field along with two years’ volunteer management and supervisory experience; or
-
Diploma a human services field along with four years’ volunteer management and supervisory experience
-
Knowledge of the characteristics, needs and interests of older adults
-
Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.

Excellent organizational, analytical, multitasking, and customer service abilities.
