About the Role
As a Host with Long Beach Lodge Resort, you will be an ambassador for the exceptional service and cuisine that are hallmarks of our West Coast dining experience. Your warm, personal attention and knowledge of our outstanding F&B offerings makes guests of the Great Room feel unique and valued. As a member of the F&B team at the Lodge, you are dedicated to the overall success of the team as a whole and are open to working in a variety of capacities as needed, events included.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring the highest level of service by exceeding guest expectations to build loyalty.
- Answer phones in a timely manner, creating requested meal period reservations.
- Greet, welcome, and seat guests.
- Prepare coffees and beverages, as permitted under BC service regulations.
- Support team members when possible to ensure the timely movement of completed food orders from the kitchen to guest tables.
- Serve as a link between the leadership team and employees by communicating departmental goals, handling questions, and helping resolve work-related problems.
- Work closely with the supervisor and/or manager to ensure smooth service.
- Review upcoming reservations to ensure all requirements have been met for service.
- Maintain strong and effective communication with the chef and service team regarding reservation timelines and pre-shift notes.
- Take and deliver room service and cottage catering orders.
- Perform other duties as assigned as this position evolves.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food and beverage service, preferably in a fine dining environment considered an asset
- Strong team player with a collaborative mindset
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional in appearance and demeanor.
- Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Experience with Point of Sale (POS) systems considered an asset
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and be active for up to 10 hours per shift
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Frequent bending, kneeling, lifting, pushing, and pulling
- Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
Additional Requirements
- Criminal Record Check: Required prior to start date.
- Reference Check: Two professional references will be contacted.
- Driver’s Abstract: Required for roles involving use of company vehicles or driving duties.
- Signed Staff Manual Agreement: required as part of onboarding, confirming understanding of workplace expectations and policies
