Job Title: Senior Product Designer (Website & Applications)
Who We Are:
There is a gap between what a brand imagines for its packaging and what most suppliers can actually produce. PakFactory exists in that gap. We are a custom packaging platform built on structural complexity — rigid boxes, hinged closures, magnetic snaps, premium finishes, child-resistant construction — the kinds of work that require real manufacturing relationships, design expertise, and production discipline to execute well.
Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Markham, Ontario, we operate a cloud-based platform that connects brand customers across North America with a global manufacturing network. Over 5,000 brands trust us with their packaging — and that trust compounds with every production run. We are on a deliberate path from a design-led service business toward a platform economy player, building the operational infrastructure and data advantages that create durable competitive moats at scale.
The Opportunity:
Custom packaging is a category that most people don’t think about until they need it — and then it becomes one of the most consequential decisions a brand makes. PakFactory’s job is to be the definitive resource when that moment arrives: the brand that ranks, that gets cited, that gets recommended, and that earns trust before a conversation even starts.
This role is about building that content presence from the ground up. You’ll own the full content surface — website and landing pages, a resources and blog program, an academy-style educational library, the thought leadership voice that defines PakFactory’s authority in the category, and the creative copywriting that brings the brand to life across social and campaign channels. You’ll write much of it yourself, and you’ll build the strategy and systems that scale it beyond you.
This is a senior, standalone role. You’ll work closely with the marketing lead, the digital marketing strategist, and the CEO. You’ll be the person who knows the most about how our audience thinks, what they search for, and what earns their trust — and you’ll translate that into content that compounds over time.
What you will own:
SEO, AEO & GEO — search and discovery strategy
The content strategy must perform across three converging search paradigms:
- SEO: traditional search rankings — keyword architecture, topical authority clusters, on-page optimization, internal linking
- AEO (Answer Engine Optimization): structuring content to be surfaced as direct answers by Google’s AI Overviews, featured snippets, and People Also Ask
- GEO (Generative Engine Optimization): writing content that gets cited, quoted, or recommended by AI models (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini) when buyers ask packaging questions
- Own the content audit, keyword research, and topical map that drives the editorial calendar
- Work with the digital marketing strategist on performance measurement, attribution, and iteration
Website & landing pages
- Write and optimize all core website copy — homepage, product/service pages, category pages, and conversion-focused landing pages
- Develop landing pages for paid and organic channels that are built around buyer intent, not just brand voice
- Maintain and evolve the website’s messaging hierarchy as the platform and product surface expand
- Collaborate with the UX/UI designers and marketing lead to ensure copy and design work as a system
Resources, blog & academy
- Build and run a blog and resources program that establishes PakFactory as the definitive educational voice in custom packaging
- Develop the PakFactory Academy content library — guides, tutorials, specifications, and buyer education that serves brands at every stage of their packaging journey
- Own the editorial calendar: topic selection, brief writing, commissioning (where relevant), editing, and publishing
- Write the anchor content yourself — the long-form guides, comparison pieces, and structural packaging explainers that build topical authority
Thought leadership & brand voice
- Develop and steward the PakFactory brand voice — the tone, perspective, and editorial sensibility that makes our content recognizable and trustworthy
- Write thought leadership content that reflects PakFactory’s unique position at the intersection of design, manufacturing, and brand — for the CEO, the company blog, and industry publications
- Build the POV that differentiates PakFactory in a category where most players sound identical
- Contribute to email, sales enablement materials, and product messaging as needed
Creative copywriting & social media
- Write creative, on-brand copy for social media across LinkedIn, Instagram, and emerging channels — short-form posts, campaign copy, product launches, and brand moments that stop the scroll
- Develop social content series, campaign narratives, and recurring formats that build audience and reinforce PakFactory’s authority in the category
- Translate complex packaging concepts — structural engineering, material science, production processes — into content that is genuinely interesting to a brand and design-minded audience
- Collaborate with the visual designer and digital marketing strategist to develop copy that is conceived alongside creative — not written after the fact
- Write email marketing copy — nurture sequences, campaign sends, product announcements — that performs against both engagement and conversion metrics.
Who You Are:
You have 5+ years of content strategy and writing experience, ideally in B2B, ecommerce, or a technical product category. You know how to build content programs that rank, convert, and compound — not just publish.
- You write exceptionally well. Not “good for a strategist” — genuinely good. You have published work you’re proud of that shows range: instructional, editorial, persuasive, and creative. Long-form and short-form. Serious and playful when the moment calls for it.
- You understand modern SEO at a strategic level — topical authority, semantic search, E-E-A-T, and why most content programs fail despite strong publishing volume
- You are actively thinking about AEO and GEO — how AI systems surface content, what makes a source citable, and how to write for an answer-first search environment
- You can build a content strategy from scratch: audit, keyword research, topical mapping, editorial calendar, briefs, measurement framework
- You have strong editorial judgment — you know what to commission, what to cut, and what’s worth writing yourself
- You’re comfortable working without a large team under you — this role requires both strategic thinking and hands-on output
- You understand brand voice and can develop it, not just follow a style guide
- Bonus: experience in packaging, manufacturing, supply chain, or a physical product category
- Bonus: familiarity with headless CMS platforms, structured content, or schema markup for AEO
