About System Architects
System Architects https://www.systemarchitects.ca/ is a Toronto-based Managed IT Services Provider helping businesses improve their technology, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, and day-to-day IT operations. We support clients that rely on technology to run their business and need a responsive, proactive, and strategic IT partner.
We are looking for a Technical Account Manager who can combine strong client relationship skills with a solid technical understanding of IT environments. This role is ideal for someone who understands managed services, enjoys working with business leaders, and can help clients make better technology decisions.
About the Role
The Technical Account Manager will act as the main relationship and technology advisor for assigned clients. This role is similar in nature to a vCIO-style function, but with a stronger focus on account management, client communication, service alignment, technical recommendations, and ensuring the client is receiving the right level of support from System Architects.
You will not be expected to be the deepest technical engineer in the room, but you must be technical enough to understand client environments, identify risks, explain solutions clearly, and work with our internal technical teams to move initiatives forward.
This is a client-facing role that requires professionalism, strong communication, accountability, and the ability to build trust with business owners, executives, and internal technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and maintain strong relationships with assigned client accounts.
Act as the primary point of contact for business and technology discussions.
Conduct regular client check-ins, business reviews, and technology roadmap meetings.
Understand each client’s IT environment, business priorities, risks, and future technology needs.
Work with internal technical teams to identify opportunities for improvement, standardization, cybersecurity enhancements, and infrastructure upgrades.
Translate technical issues and recommendations into clear business language for decision-makers.
Review service performance, ticket trends, client satisfaction, recurring issues, and areas for improvement.
Help identify and recommend projects, hardware refreshes, cloud improvements, cybersecurity solutions, backup improvements, and Microsoft 365 enhancements.
Ensure clients are aligned with System Architects’ standards and best practices.
Coordinate with sales, service delivery, project teams, and leadership to ensure client needs are being met.
Assist with renewals, proposals, quotes, and client technology planning.
Proactively identify risks before they become major client issues.
Support client retention, satisfaction, and account growth.
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in a technical account management, IT account management, service delivery, technical consulting, or MSP-related role.
Strong understanding of managed IT services, help desk operations, infrastructure, cloud services, cybersecurity, backups, and Microsoft 365.
Ability to speak confidently with business owners, executives, and technical teams.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Comfortable explaining technical concepts in plain language.
Experience conducting client meetings, business reviews, or technology planning sessions.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple client accounts.
Ability to identify client risks, service gaps, and technology improvement opportunities.
Professional, polished, and client-focused.
Ability to work collaboratively with technical teams without needing to personally perform every technical task.
Nice to Have
Experience working for a Managed Service Provider.
Experience with Autotask, MyITProcess, IT Glue, Datto, Kaseya, Microsoft Partner tools, or similar platforms.
Experience supporting small and mid-sized businesses.
Experience helping clients with cybersecurity, compliance, or cloud modernization initiatives.
Previous experience in a Technical Account Manager, Service Manager, vCIO or IT Consultant role.
