About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Assistant Buyer to support our day-to-day purchasing, supplier communication, and supply chain operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow within procurement and supply chain in a fast-paced, operations-driven environment.
This position is a one-year contract with the opportunity to transition into a permanent full-time role based on performance and business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and issue purchase orders with domestic and international suppliers
- Confirm product specifications, pricing, quantities, and delivery timelines
- Maintain regular communication with suppliers regarding order status and fulfillment
- Monitor orders and proactively address delays, discrepancies, or supply issues
- Assist with data entry and inputting purchase orders and inventory information into QuickBooks and internal systems
- Maintain accurate procurement records, documentation, and supplier files
- Support inventory planning and replenishment activities as needed
- Assist in sourcing new suppliers and comparing pricing, quality, and service options
- Work closely with logistics, operations, warehouse, and sales teams to support daily operations
- Provide general administrative and operational support related to purchasing and supply chain activities
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, administration, or a related field
- Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general office software
- Experience with QuickBooks or inventory management systems is considered an asset
- Experience communicating with suppliers or vendors professionally
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field is considered an asset
Preferred Assets
- Experience in produce, food distribution, import/export, or logistics industries
- HACCP training or knowledge of food safety practices is considered an asset
- Experience working with international suppliers and shipments
- Fluency in Spanish is considered an asset
