What Are We Looking For?
We are looking for a Robotics & Coding Coach (VEX Specialist) — an energetic, experienced, and engaging individual who believes in inspiring students through hands-on STEM learning in a fun environment.
The ideal candidate is highly experienced with VEX Robotics platforms and has a strong background in coaching students for VEX competitions, robot design, programming, and teamwork. You will work closely with students aged 13–18, helping them build technical confidence while fostering creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills.
Requirements
- Excellent oral communication and presentation skills.
- Upbeat, positive, energetic, and capable of working independently.
- Strong leadership and mentorship abilities with the ability to inspire young learners.
- Minimum 2–3 years experience teaching or coaching robotics/coding to students aged 8–18.
- Extensive hands-on experience with:
- VEX Robotics platforms including VEX IQ and/or VEX V5
- Robot design, building, troubleshooting, and mechanical systems
- VEXcode, C++, Python, or block-based programming
- Sensors, drivetrain systems, autonomous programming, and competition strategy
- Experience coaching or participating in VEX competitions is strongly preferred.
- Ability to simplify complex engineering and programming concepts into age-appropriate instruction.
- Experience with LEGO robotics, Arduino, or Raspberry Pi is considered an asset.
- Pre-employment background check is required.
Responsibilities
- Lead the turnkey setup and launch of the VEX Robotics program at the centre, including planning, equipment organization, classroom setup and operational readiness and maintenance.
- Recruit and develop competitive VEX teams by engaging students and supporting parent communication throughout the season.
- Deliver intensive coaching and technical training for VEX competitions, focusing on robot design, programming, teamwork, and competition strategy.
- Guide students through all stages of the VEX competition process, including preparation, practice sessions, troubleshooting, and tournament participation.
- Create structured training plans and mentorship programs to help teams build technical skills, confidence, and collaboration.
- Oversee competition logistics, team coordination, and ongoing performance improvement to ensure a high-quality competitive robotics experience.
- Inspire students to think critically, collaborate effectively, and develop confidence in STEM.
Timing
Our regular programs typically run on Weekdays: 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM (Monday to Friday) and Weekends: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM (Saturday & Sunday). Flexible availability during evenings and weekends is preferred. Competition practice is during these timings as well. Coaches may be hired outside these hours for additional coaching time.
Timings for Camps and PA Days are from 8.30 AM – 4.30 PM on weekdays.
