POSITION TITLE: Cake Decorator, Production Baker (Full-Time)

Scope
The Bakery Cake Decorator and Production Baker works in the Village Grocer bakery department and is responsible for the decoration and finishing stages for our in-store cake and bakery creations. We are a high-volume bakery that makes high quality, from-scratch products. You pride yourself on your artistic and creative skills and enjoy working independently. Your talent, eye for detail, production output, work ethic, organization, and enthusiasm make you the perfect candidate for this position.
Role Requirements
- Baking degree or certification from a accredited culinary institution.
- Available to work 5 days per week. Schedule will include a day each weekend (Saturday or Sunday) and may have extended hours during key holidays (Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.).
- Two (2) years of cake decorating experience with a sound knowledge and talent in piping, masking, icing, (fondant, buttercream, royal).
- General understanding and experience in bakery production.
- Able to endure medium/elevated levels of physical exertion (standing, climbing stairs, bending, lifting, etc.)
- Observes company code of conduct, policies, and store rules.
- Perform other duties and assignments as directed
Key Responsibilities
- Designs and decorates cakes in collaboration with the bakery production manager
- Assists with general baking production activities
- Maintains an organized, clean, and safe working environment.
- Adhere to all provincial health and civil code regulations
- Able to manage fragile/perishable items with care
- Maintains a high standard of personal hygiene & appearance
Working Conditions
- Inside, freezer work on occasion

- Stamina: Cake Decorators often stand for extended periods of time and are required to lift medium to heavy objects
- Commitment: Punctual and able to work variable shifts as assigned by the bakery manager

Pay: $19.00-$22.00 per hour
