Overview

Toronto Truck Driving School is seeking an experienced and professional Heavy Equipment Training Instructor to join our training team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality classroom and hands-on practical training to students enrolled in our Heavy Equipment Training Program.

We are looking for an instructor who is safety-focused, patient, professional, and passionate about helping students develop the skills and confidence required to operate heavy equipment safely and effectively.

Position: Heavy Equipment Training Instructor

Key Responsibilities

Deliver professional classroom and practical training for heavy equipment operators.
Provide hands-on instruction in the safe operation of heavy equipment.
Train students on equipment operation, controls, maneuvering, positioning, and job-site procedures.
Demonstrate proper operating techniques and safe work practices.
Teach students how to perform equipment inspections and identify potential safety concerns.
Provide instruction on pre-operational inspections, maintenance awareness, and equipment safety.
Train students in proper equipment handling and workplace safety procedures.
Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
Maintain accurate student training and attendance records.
Ensure training is delivered in accordance with applicable workplace health and safety requirements and industry best practices.
Maintain a professional and respectful learning environment.
Report student progress, concerns, incidents, or equipment issues to management.
Ensure all training activities are conducted with safety as the highest priority.

Depending on the instructor's experience and qualifications, training include equipment such as:

Excavators
Backhoes
Front-End Loaders

Qualifications & Requirements

Previous experience operating heavy equipment in a construction, industrial, or related environment.
Strong practical knowledge of heavy equipment operation and safety procedures.
Previous training or instructional experience is an asset.
Ability to effectively demonstrate equipment operation and explain procedures to students.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Patient, professional, and dependable.
Strong commitment to workplace safety.
Ability to work with students with different levels of experience and learning abilities.
Valid driver's licence is an asset.
Relevant heavy equipment operator certifications or industry credentials are an asset.
First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.
Ability to pass any applicable company screening or employment requirements.
