Compensation: From $45.00 to $55.00 per hour with some flexibility according to experience. Will consider proposals.
Regular Work Hours: Up to 4 hours per day to be worked during regular business hours between 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday, approximately 15-20 work hours per week. Additional paid hours may be required during peak period, including some evenings and weekends as needed.
Work Location: Primarily remote-based, with periodically scheduled onsite work at our client's downtown Toronto office.

We are seeking an experienced Corporate Accountant (CPA) to join our finance team. This role is ideally suited for a technically strong accounting professional with deep experience in corporate accounting, year-end engagements, and compliance, who has developed their expertise in a public accounting firm environment.
You will play a key role in managing corporate accounting activities, supporting year-end processes, and ensuring accurate, compliant financial reporting.
Responsibilities Summary:
- Prepare and review corporate year-end working papers and financial statements
- Manage corporate filings, including T2 corporate tax returns and indirect tax filings (HST/GST)
- Prepare and post journal entries, perform account reconciliations, and maintain the general ledger
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
- Utilize Caseware extensively for financial statements, working papers, and documentation
- Support and coordinate external audits and respond to audit inquiries
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiency
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, communicating directly to gather information, discuss financial results, and address accounting and filing-related inquiries
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external advisors as needed
- Additional corporate accounting responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
Education: Undergraduate degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field.
Professional Credentials: CPA designation is required
Preferred Work Experience: At least 7 + years of experience working at a public accounting firm (required).
Preferred Sector Experience: Public Accounting Firm.
Technical and Language Skills Requirements:
- Experience with DocuSign, CaseWare, TaxPrep and Adobe Acrobat software preferred.
- Advanced MS Office skills, particularly Excel (will be tested).
- Fast and accurate typing and data entry skills, and excellent attention to detail (will be tested).
- Familiarity with online databases and file management programs.
- Strong English written and reading comprehension skills, including excellent spelling, grammar, proofreading, and syntax (will be tested).
- Strong English conversational skills and professional telephone manners.
Task -Based Qualifications and Additional Attributes:
- Prior experience working at a public accounting firm (required)
- Hands-on experience with corporate year-end processes and corporate filings
- Solid understanding of journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger management
- Demonstrated record of professional conduct and character. Responsible, reliable and works to deadlines.
- Focused and able to work effectively with minimal direction and supervision, to prioritize tasks effectively, and to manage volume targets and due dates.
- Pleasant and courteous. Demonstrated commitment to client service and professional representation of the organization.
- Proven ability to respond to sensitive and confidential matters with tact, discretion, and excellent judgement in the interpretation and application of instructions and organization policy.
- Strong relationship management skills including client and vendor relations management, business networking, negotiation, change management and consulting/advisory skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and collaboratively, and in an advisory capacity, and liaise effectively with a wide and diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
Additional Requirements:
- Must have own dedicated ergonomic workspace in a confidential environment, with reliable high-speed internet. Must have ability to work extended periods at a computer and manage multiple tasks remotely.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
- Ability to work both remotely and onsite, abiding by organization health and safety policies.
- Ability to promptly provide minimum of 2, qualified employment references who are available to speak with either Marberg or Marberg's client.
- Ability to declare personal Non-Conflict of Interest in execution of assignment responsibilities.
- Provision of certification of AODA and OHSA online training course completion prior to assignment start.
