Reporting to the Senior Vice-President & Chief Actuary, the Vice-President, Corporate Actuarial is accountable for leading actuarial valuation and regulatory capital reporting for the Company. This role provides independent insights into financial performance, supports strategic decision-making, and ensures compliance with actuarial, accounting, and regulatory standards. The position has high visibility with executive leadership and plays a critical role in supporting business growth, capital management, financial performance, and transformation initiatives.
As the Vice-President, Corporate Actuarial, your key responsibilities will include…

Partner with the SVP & Chief Actuary to establish and execute the vision and priorities for the valuation function

Lead actuarial valuation and regulatory capital reporting activities, ensuring the accuracy and adequacy of actuarial liabilities and capital requirements

Communicate movements in actuarial liabilities, earnings, and capital results to senior management and external auditors

Oversee actuarial methodologies, models, controls, and governance processes and ensure industry best practices are maintained

Lead experience studies and assumption reviews that provide insights into business performance and support the determination of actuarial assumption

Help drive consolidated actuarial reporting for executive consumption at ivari and Sagicor, including quarterly reporting slides, income, and capital dashboards

Provide insight into drivers of earnings, profitability, and capital performance to support strategic decision-making

Partner with the Finance function to provide accurate and timely analyses, with relevant documentation, to support the financial reporting process

Partner with Risk Management to support capital optimisation, enterprise stress testing, and risk appetite management activities

Partner with Pricing, Reinsurance, ALM, and Investment teams on key actuarial, capital, and strategic initiatives

Participate in projects as needed to advance ivari toward its strategic goals, including finance transformation projects

Monitor emerging actuarial, accounting, and regulatory developments and lead implementation activities related to new standards and requirements

Drive continuous improvement initiatives, modernization efforts, and process enhancements across the actuarial function

Maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the Senior Leadership Team at ivari, industry groups and external auditors

Lead, mentor, build and develop a team of highly skilled actuarial professionals while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Ensure resources are aligned with business priorities and strategic objectives
What we are looking for…

Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA)
-
University degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or a related field
-
Minimum of 15 years of relevant life insurance experience with progressively senior actuarial leadership responsibilities
-
Extensive experience in valuation, financial reporting, and capital management within a life insurance environment
-
Deep knowledge of individual life products (including traditional life, universal life, critical illness, annuities and segregated funds). Excellent command of the drivers of profitability within a life and annuity business and financial/capital implications

In-depth knowledge of Canadian life insurance financial reporting, actuarial valuation, and regulatory requirements under IFRS 17 and LICAT

Superior organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple and changing priorities

Experience partnering with senior executives and communicating complex actuarial and financial concepts to diverse audiences

Proven ability to build, lead, develop, and motivate high-performing actuarial teams

Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and commercial awareness

Excellent analytical, communication, relationship management, negotiation, and influencing skills

Experience with pricing, reinsurance, ALM, investments, AXIS, and Risk Integrity would be considered assets
