Fine Dining Restaurant Manager George Restaurant | Toronto

George Restaurant is looking for an experienced Fine Dining Restaurant Assistant Manager who understands what exceptional fine dining looks like and knows how to lead a service with confidence, urgency and precision.

Our Restaurant Assistant Managers are an essential part of the leadership team. They are responsible for maintaining the flow of service, supporting the FOH team, anticipating operational needs and ensuring that every guest receives the level of hospitality expected at George.

This is an opportunity for a seasoned fine dining professional who is comfortable taking ownership, making decisions quickly and leading from the floor.

We are looking for someone who is hands-on, proactive, decisive and highly attentive to detail, someone who sees what needs to be done and acts without waiting to be asked.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate has:

4+ years of progressive fine dining experience, including leadership or management experience
Previous experience as a Floor Manager, Assistant Manager, Captain or comparable FOH leadership position
Strong understanding of Michelin-level fine dining standards and service
Excellent knowledge of food, wine and beverage service
Strong understanding of fine dining sequence of service and guest experience
The ability to make sound decisions quickly and confidently
A proactive and hands-on approach to service
Exceptional attention to detail
Strong communication and leadership skills
The ability to anticipate guest and operational needs
The ability to remain calm, composed and effective during high-volume service
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
The ability to coach and hold team members accountable
Professional presentation and conduct
Strong availability for evenings, weekends and special events
Smart Serve certification

Experience with Jonas POS is an asset.

Responsibilities

Lead the dining room during service and maintain a strong presence on the floor
Monitor the overall flow and pacing of service
Anticipate and resolve operational issues before they affect the guest experience
Support servers, hosts, bartenders and support staff throughout service
Ensure George's service standards are consistently maintained
Monitor table progression, guest satisfaction and service timing
Communicate effectively with the kitchen, sommelier team and FOH
Recognize and communicate VIPs, celebrations, allergies and special requests
Address guest concerns professionally and take immediate action when service recovery is required
Conduct and participate in pre-service briefings
Coach team members in real time and reinforce service standards
Ensure the dining room is properly prepared before service
Monitor cleanliness, organization and presentation throughout service
Assist with reservations, table management and floor organization
Support private dining, weddings and special events when required
Assist with opening and closing procedures
Take initiative to resolve issues without waiting for direction
Step into service wherever needed to protect the guest experience
Communicate operational and team concerns to the General Manager
