Full job description

PRODUCTION OPERATOR (STEEL STUDS)

IBP (Imperial Building Products) is a coast-to-coast national steel stud manufacturer serviced by two divisions with branch offices across Canada. IBP is a registered member fabricator of the Canadian Sheet Steel Building Institute (CSSBI). Our products are manufactured in Canada, with distribution nationwide. We provide fully engineered & tested systems, design assistance and cost-saving options, with over 1000 installed projects completed in a variety of building types.

IBP is currently recruiting for 1 Order Picker/Forklift Operator for our steel stud plant, based in Etobicoke, Ontario.

This is a permanent and full-time position, offering a challenging opportunity for a motivated individual to demonstrate their skills and abilities in a manufacturing operation within a large corporation.

Under the guidance of the Supply Chain Supervisor, the Order Picker/ Forklift Operator conducts the daily operations of the Supply Chain Department.

Additional responsibilities of the Order Picker/Forklift Operator include:

Inspect all equipment prior to using/operating
Strapping of material on production carts (use of banding machine)
Assisting of supplying coils to production
Putting material in storage racks
Receiving and marking coils
Mapping and planning loads
Organizing trucking shipments
Counting, paperwork, quality control
Loading and unloading material onto trucks
Stacking coils
Housekeeping – Ensure that the yard is kept neat and clean
Emptying knock out and garbage bins

Qualifications:

Heavy lifting up to 50lbs
Understanding of safety policies and their effects to personnel.
How to use chop saw and steel binding machines.
Good communication skills with production personnel, order desk, customers, couriers and truck drivers
Picking orders and strapping for properly safe loading, ensure strapping is tight so lifts don’t shift or fold.
WHMIS Training
Crane Certification
Knowledge and skill to operate a forklift (certification required)
Perform basic mathematical calculations.
Ability to work afternoon shifts, including Saturday as needed.
Ability to work flexible hours and shifts and adapt to changing business conditions.

There is 1 current opening:

Afternoon shift - Monday-Friday 2pm-11pm

Hourly wage: $20/hr CAD
