Medical Laboratory Technologist or Technician - Histology in Mohs Surgery
Contract Full Time Position

Contribute to safe, quality care by
- Under the supervision of our Mohs team prepares surgical specimens for frozen sectioning examination.
- Performs embedding techniques and microtomy to produce acceptable quality slides.
- Performs manual and automated routine stains
What must you have?
- Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) General Diploma from a recognized school of Medical Laboratory Technology or have successfully completed a recognized Laboratory Assistant Program (MLA). O.S.M.T. Certification required. Have documentation of training appropriate for the testing performed prior to analyzing patient specimens.
- Current experience in Histology (embedding, microtomy, routine and special staining) a benefit, but we can train motivated candidates

RESPONSIBILITIES....Listed but not limited to:
1. Opens laboratory for daily operation, checks temperatures, all equipment, machines and documents
2. Receives tissue specimens and enters into log book
3. Process tissue for frozen sectioning.
4. Section tissue; stains slides, coverslips and labels slides.
5. Log in all incoming consultation slides and prepares slides for surgeon.
6. Reviews ALL slides and maps before taking anything to the physician.
7. Log in all Pathology reports, accession and pull charts for surgeon review.
8. File slides.
9. Maintain order in laboratory and compliance to safety regulations.
10. Review and update regulated manuals annually.
11. Appropriately dispose of biohazardous waste.
12. Implements laboratory safety.
13. Updates Laboratory Management Manual yearly or as policies and procedures change.
14. Accepts responsibility for maintenance and storage of all laboratory records and patient slides, according to law.
15. Co-monitor for OSHA compliance.
16. Collaborate with other team members in nursing, surgical and administrative to facilitate an efficient patient experience
