Full job description

Samfiru Tumarkin LLP is a busy litigation firm with offices across Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta. Our lawyers specialize in employment law, as well as personal injury and disability law.

We are looking for a permanent, full-time Accounting and Billing Clerk to join our Accounting team in Toronto. This position is well suited to someone with a minimum of 1–2 years of administrative, general accounting/billing, or data entry experience who is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable with technology, and eager to learn.

This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on administrative and accounting support. Reporting to the Accounting Manager and Assistant Accounting Manager, the successful candidate may be responsible for day-to-day tasks including, but not limited to:

Handling incoming accounting mail and distributing items to the appropriate individuals or departments;
Monitoring incoming EFTs and wires through the bank platform, matching the payments to the appropriate client matters, and posting them in the accounting system;
Contacting clients to process payments;
Assisting with the Trust process;
Posting daily credit card receipts from the Firm’s online payment system;
Preparing and processing daily cheque deposits;
Assisting with billing-related tasks and other accounting duties as required; and
Providing general administrative support to the Accounting team.

The ideal candidate will have:

Strong written and verbal communication skills;
Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills;
General computer proficiency and a willingness to learn new technology and systems;
The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team;
Strong time-management skills and the ability to prioritize competing and time-sensitive tasks; and
A positive, responsive, and can-do attitude.

The salary range is between $45,000 – $55,000. Salary is commensurate with experience and is part of a competitive total compensation package. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal and market equity for similar roles.

Samfiru Tumarkin LLP operates under a hybrid working model; this position requires the successful candidate to work in the office approximately 2–3 days per week, and/or as needed based on business requirements. Please note that some pre-approved overtime may be required based on the Firm’s needs.
