Position: Gallery Associate
Salary: $20-$22
Deadline: Open until filled
Start Date: As soon as possible
Hours: Part-time, 1-2 weekend days per week.

Gallery Description:

Petroff Gallery proudly represents works of visual art and contemporary craft by over 100 Canadian artists and makers. Since 1982 the Gallery has featured Canadian abstract and landscape painters and contemporary craft makers who are innovators in their chosen media.

Job Description:

As a Gallery Associate you will work closely with the gallery owner, manager and other gallery associates. We are a tight-knit team and work collaboratively to support each other to ensure the successful and smooth running of the gallery. You will be responsible for assisting customers and making sales, as well as receiving and processing incoming artwork and fine crafts. As the ideal candidate, you are a self-confident art enthusiast who possesses exceptional attention to detail, is highly organized and has strong interpersonal skills. This is a weekend position.

Responsibilities:

· Facilitate high-end luxury sales with private and corporate clients as well as designers

· Provide exceptional customer service in person, by phone and electronically

· Enter inventory into an ecommerce website (Shopify) and custom Filemaker database

· Photograph and process incoming artworks (2D & 3D)

· Prepare digital placements for clients using Photoshop

· Create gallery signage

· Organize, clean and maintain the gallery, and stored works of art

· Work closely with the social media coordinator to create social media content (posts, reels, and live content)

· Safely handle artworks weighing up to 40lbs on and off-site

· Provide framing consultations (training will be provided)

· Filling

· Other duties as assigned

This is a weekend position. Regular work hours are Sundays from 12-5pm. For the summer months you would also be working Saturdays from 10-6pm.

Qualifications & Experience:

Post secondary degree or diploma (art related field preferred)
Fine Art or luxury goods sales experience
Experience handling art
Superior oral and written communication in English (email, phone, in person)
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator)
Experience utilizing social media to promote a business and drive sales
Photography and video skills

Assets:

Experience framing art works
Experience installing, and dismantling exhibitions
Proficiency in a second language

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
