Full job description

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is Canada's largest mental health and addiction teaching hospital, as well as one of the world's leading research centres in the area of addiction and mental health. CAMH combines clinical care, research, education, policy development, and health promotion to transform the lives of people affected by mental illness and addictions. CAMH’s Campbell Family Mental Health Research Institute (CFMHRI) is home to scientists, staff, and research trainees conducting research to improve the understanding of the brain and the causes and biomarkers of mental illness as well as making advances in prevention and treatment for mental illness and addictions across the lifespan.

CAMH’s Brain Health Imaging Centre (BHIC) is a world leader in clinical brain imaging, including positron emission tomography (PET), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), preclinical imaging, digital autoradiography, and radiochemistry production. The Centre’s mission is to advance the understanding of brain health and mental well-being through cutting-edge imaging technologies, with a commitment to conducting innovative research, providing exceptional patient care, and fostering collaboration within the scientific and medical communities.

The BHIC is seeking full-time permanent a Scientific Associate, with expertise in quantitative (PET) neuroimaging studies. This role will act as a liaison between the core PET staff and the CAMH researchers of diverse academic backgrounds who process, evaluate, and interpret PET images, to develop and share methods developed by the methodology group, and facilitate a standardized approach. They will be expected to develop appropriate solutions to overcome challenges encountered during the discovery and human translation of novel radiotracers, and will work in close collaboration with the core Methodology group to maintain data precision at all stages from acquisition to analysis. The candidate will be expected to work with CAMH Principal Investigators to support external grant applications and publications.

This position is located at 250 College Street and will report to the BHIC Director.

Responsibilities

Qualifications

PhD degree and postdoctoral experience (or equivalent research position) in physics, engineering, neurosciences, health sciences or related discipline, with explicit knowledge of nuclear medicine in medical physics. Whilst expertise in human PET neuroimaging studies is mandatory, any additional knowledge and expertise of preclinical imaging will be considered an asset. The candidate is expected to have experience and knowledge of research software for PET data analysis, including Pmod, Matlab, R, and related programming and image processing tools. Experience working with imaging data formats and management systems (i.e., DICOM, Neuroimaging Information Technology Initiative [NIfTI], BIDS, XNAT) is required. Ability to work independently as well as effectively communicate and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team is required. Sensitivity, skills and experience working with diverse workforce and communities is essential.

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary is competitive and based on experience, with a hiring range of $91,758.17 – $114,697.71 per year.

Employees in this role may progress within the full pay range of $91,758.17 – $137,637.25 per year
