Program and Role Description: The Career Foundation’s Youth Thrive program operates both regionally and nationally, offering youth a variety of activities such as professional skills workshops, a virtual retreat, and volunteer placements. These opportunities help youth participants gain valuable skills and experiences, engage in important community projects, and promote civic engagement and social inclusion. Our national Youth Thrive program is available to youth aged 16 to 30 living in Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, or Nova Scotia, while our regional Youth Thrive program serves eligible youth living in Ontario. Both programs particularly focus on youth who identify as Indigenous or are underserved from equity-deserving groups.
This Outreach Worker/Facilitator position is available with our national Youth Thrive program in Ontario and based at our North York office. In this role, you will be a key member of the project team.
Some of your responsibilities will include promoting civic engagement and volunteerism among youth and actively engaging them in the program. You will work directly with Indigenous and underserved youth participants by delivering life and volunteer readiness workshops, as well as providing individual and group-based coaching. These efforts will help youth participants understand the expectations and requirements of non-profit workplaces, preparing them for success in their volunteer placements.
You will have targets to achieve that will contribute to the team’s collective ability to meet all contractual obligations with the program’s funder.
Position Type:
Full-time (37.5 hours per week) contract until March 31, 2027, with strong potential for permanency.
Starting Salary:
The starting annual salary for this position is $57,000.00 (or $58k if the successful candidate holds a master’s degree, full bilingualism in French, or full proficiency in Sign Language).
Base Location and Travel Requirements:
This position is based at our North York office (Lawrence Ave. W. & Allen Rd.) and requires frequent travel to various locations within an assigned territory to meet the core deliverables of the position, as well as on-site work from the office
The successful candidate should possess a valid Ontario G driver’s licence and a reliable vehicle to conduct essential work related travel within the communities served, including remote areas not accessible by public transit.
The position also currently permits a hybrid-remote schedule, permitting one work-from-home
day per week, contingent on individual performance and program operational requirements, and is therefore subject to change at any time. The hybrid schedule requires a private work-from-home space with reliable, high-speed internet. A company laptop, cell phone, and other equipment will be provided.
Please note that the work schedule for this position requires flexibility and availability to work some evening hours and occasional weekends to meet the needs of the program.

Responsibilities include:
Community Outreach, Program Promotion, and Participant Recruitment
Conducts outreach to recruit new, eligible youth participants into the program, including Indigenous and underserved youth from equity-deserving groups, ensuring that outreach activities are tailored and appropriate to diverse groups and communities.
Facilitates information sessions and presents the program to youth groups, schools, community partners, and other stakeholders to promote civic engagement while clearly explaining the program objectives and time requirements for participation.
Establishes and maintains relationships with non-profit partners to help develop volunteer placement opportunities for youth.
Establishes and maintains new relationships with community agencies to ensure effective partnerships and wraparound support for youth.
Attends community networking meetings, youth-focused events, and other opportunities to recruit eligible youth participants and community partners into the program.
Utilizes social media channels and works in collaboration with The Career Foundation’s marketing department to develop effective marketing campaigns that promote the program to potential new participants, while proactively seeking opportunities to feature the program within the communities served.
Enters and maintains thorough written documentation in online data reporting systems, ensuring that files are up to date and ready for audits
Supports program management in preparing communications about the program, including success stories and entries for annual reports.
Performs other relevant duties as assigned.
Workshop Facilitation
Effectively delivers engaging and interactive workshops, as well as other group activities, in person and virtually, utilizing Zoom and MS Teams when delivering virtual sessions.
Engages youth participants in workshops through interactive activities and discussions.
Provides individual job coaching to youth participants, encouraging them to apply skills learned through workshops, and conducts placement-specific interview preparation with each participant.
Researches, creates, and designs workshop materials and ensures that content is youth-friendly and focused on civic engagement and volunteerism.
Builds rapport and maintains effective working relationships with youth when presenting workshops and providing coaching during one-on-one meetings.
Ensures each participant understands the materials presented and can apply the knowledge gained.
Coordinates guest speakers, group mentorship events, and other initiatives to support youth program participants in achieving successful outcomes.
Manages conflict and disruptions during workshops in a proactive and professional manner, when needed.
Prepares and maintains documentation on intakes, referrals, participant attendance, suitability indicators, outcomes, and other required information.
Utilizes digital systems and technologies provided by The Career Foundation to further support youth participants in achieving successful outcomes.
Performs other relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications/ Skills Required:
Post-secondary degree or diploma in sales, marketing, human services, or another related field relevant to the duties of the position is highly preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
A minimum of 2 years of direct experience in community outreach, business development, sales, recruitment, or other experience directly transferable to the responsibilities of the position is required
Prior experience facilitating workshops with high participant engagement and completion rates is considered an asset.
Valid Ontario G driver’s licence without restrictions, and a reliable vehicle to conduct essential work related travel within the communities served, including remote areas not accessible by public transit.
Experience working with youth, including those who identify as Indigenous or are from underserved equity-deserving groups, is considered an asset.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. Bilingualism is considered an asset.
Proven track record in a results-driven environment with experience meeting assigned targets.
Exceptional relationship-building skills with a proven ability to develop rapport with people from all stakeholder groups
High emotional intelligence, demonstrating patience, empathy, and connectivity when working with youth of various experiences, needs, and abilities.
Knowledge of current labour market trends, job search techniques, and youth employment research methods is considered an asset.
Professional and courteous approach to client service, with a high level of respect for the diversity of the people served.
Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to uphold the organization’s service standards, policies, and core values.
High ethics and confidentiality standards, with proven experience maintaining sensitive information and exhibiting tact, diplomacy, and good judgment.
Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask to meet deadlines and achieve targets and objectives
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Office 365 applications, including MS Teams and SharePoint. Must possess the aptitude and willingness to learn and work with new online systems and technologies.
Flexibility and availability to work some evening hours and occasional weekends to meet the needs of the program.
Positive attitude and dedicated work ethic, with a demonstrated ability to remain flexible and resilient while maintaining trust and positive working relationships
