We are currently hiring part-time Food Services Workers at our Ho Lai Oi Wan Centre location in Markham.
Compensation will vary based on experience and certification. Part-time Food Services Workers with a certificate will receive $20.71 - $23.05 and candidates without a certificate will receive $20.27 - $22.52.
Job Description:
Responsible for the delivery of meals, portioning and serving dessert, dishwashing, cleaning and sanitizing of cooking equipment, pots, pan and small dishware as well as general and special cleaning in the kitchen in accordance with government and organization policies and standards.
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of, or is currently enrolled in a recognized Food Service Worker Program
- Ability to communicate in Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) is required to cater to our Chinese-speaking residents
- Current Food Handler Safety Certificate
- Some experience in food services industry
- Ability to lift heavy industrial size food trays, pots and pans
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in English. Ability to communicate in Chinese an asset
Responsibilities:
- Sets up, delivers and serves meals according to client preference, prescribed portion sizes and diet order in an accurate, timely, orderly and safe manner. Prepares and delivers nourishment and special orders according to diet order and client preferences
- Wraps, date-labels, and stores food items
- Cleans, washes and sanitizes dishes, pots, pans, dishware and cooking equipment efficiently and thoroughly as assigned
- Cleans production area, stove, refrigeration area, dish and pot washing areas, dining room and server and maintains them in a safe, clean and organized condition. Performs regular cleaning duties including floor cleaning as assigned
- Complies with risk management policy for health and safety and GHS
- Follows protocols (e.g., temperature logs) to comply with standards from Ministry, public health and other regulatory bodies
- Follow protocols on rotation and utilization of stock and inventory
- Performs general and special cleaning duties (deep cleaning, refrigerator, blue bin, handwashing sink, work table, etc.) as assigned
- Removes garbage from the kitchen before end of shift, maintains garbage container, clean linens, and folds cardboard boxes
- Organizes janitor room, monitors chemical supplies and makes timely report to Manager for replenishment
- Replenishes sanitary supplies as appropriate
- Receives delivery of goods and ensures accuracy
- Keeps up-to-date with developments and best practices in the field
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
- Considerable standing, walking, lifting and bending.
- Exposure to all resident care elements through occasional resident contact
- Occasional shift work, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends
- Exposed to noise, high temperature and moisture while working in the dish room and pot washing areas
