We are hiring Level 1 and Level 2 Asbestos Abatement Technicians to join our field crews. You will safely identify, contain, and remove asbestos-containing materials on Low Risk (Type 1) and Moderate Risk (Type 2) projects in compliance with WorkSafe BC regulations. This role also supports general restoration and site services as needed.
This is a hands-on role for technicians who are building their career in abatement. You'll work under the direction of a Level 3 technician or site supervisor, perform containment setup and removal, handle hazardous materials, and contribute to project documentation. Strong candidates hold current Level 1 or Level 2 certification, are reliable and physically capable, and maintain strict safety standards in demanding environments.
The role
We are seeking a Level 2 Asbestos Abatement Technician to join our team. You will safely identify, contain, and remove asbestos-containing materials on Low Risk (Type 1) and Moderate Risk (Type 2) projects in compliance with WorkSafe BC regulations. This role also supports occasional related site services work.
This is a hands-on role for someone with proven field experience in Type 1 and Type 2 abatement. You'll perform abatement work, set up and maintain containments and decontamination units, handle hazardous materials, contribute to project documentation, and work alongside the site team to deliver projects safely and on schedule.
Duties
- Safely remove hazardous materials such as asbestos, lead-based paint, or mold from buildings and structures on Type 1 and Type 2 projects
- Set up, maintain, and tear down containments, decontamination units, and negative air systems
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to remove or encapsulate asbestos materials effectively
- Assist with cleaning tasks related to fire restoration, water damage restoration, mold remediation, and general cleanup activities
- Support other restoration efforts by using tools such as carpet cleaners, construction hand tools, and fire or water damage equipment
- Maintain detailed documentation of abatement activities, safety procedures, and disposal records for compliance purposes
- Collaborate with team members to ensure project timelines are met while maintaining a safe work environment
Required Certifications & Qualifications
- Current BC Asbestos Worker Certification covering Low Risk (Type 1) and Moderate Risk (Type 2) work
- Current respirator fit test (quantitative, full-face)
- Fall protection certification
- WHMIS 2015
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certification
- Valid BC driver's license, clean abstract
- Minimum 1 year asbestos abatement field experience
- Secondary School (required)
- Physically able to work 8-10-hour shifts in full PPE, lift 50 lbs, climb ladders and work at heights
- Able to pass a criminal record check
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and follow detailed instructions

- Level 3 (Type 3 / High Risk) certification - clear pathway to Level 3 role with company-supported training for the right candidate
- Confined space entry certification
- Lead or mold abatement certification
- First Aid OFA Level 1
- Experience in occupied hospital or healthcare settings
- Forklift or aerial work platform ticket
Compensation and Benefits
$28.00 - $33.00 per hour depending on experience and certifications.

Ability to commute/relocate
This is a field-based role. Candidates must be able to reliably report to the Maple Ridge warehouse and travel to project sites throughout Vancouver and surrounding municipalities.
