Full job description

Kaigo Senior Living consists of seven retirement communities nestled in beautiful settings and quiet neighbourhoods throughout the interior and lower mainland of British Columbia. All are fully accredited, professionally managed and well maintained.

Fraserview Retirement Community has been an active member of the Richmond community for well over 45 years! While the original building no longer exists, our new building is beautiful, welcoming and a truly wonderful place for our team to work and our residents to call home. Fraserview is home to 199 residents who live in 14 distinct neighbourhoods.

Reporting to the Director of Care, the Clinical Lead works collaboratively with internal and external partners to promote excellence in nursing practice and resident satisfaction. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day care of our residents to assist and support them in making choices that promote independence, enhance their lives and enable them to age with dignity.

What You Will Do

Assist in planning for and directing the nursing care, treatments, procedures, and healthcare services to meet resident healthcare needs and personal preferences.
Coordinate discharge, transfer, and admission of clients for up to 199 long term care beds in cooperation with community nurses, and other facilities, families, and support staff.
Arrange and chair interdisciplinary meetings such as care conferences, medication reviews, and special staff meetings.
Enhance employee performance through education, coaching, mentoring, guidance and role modeling.
Oversee the development and implementation of written health care plans, in cooperation with other disciplines and in accordance with instructions of the attending physician.
Coordinate the supervision and review of preventative and restorative nursing procedures for each resident so as to achieve and maintain the highest possible degree of function, self-care, and independence.
Participate in the hiring, selection and annual reviews of employees and contracted service providers.
In the absence of the Director of Care, will be responsible and accountable for the day-to-day supervision and management of the care and service provision for Residents requiring complex care and services.
Cultivate a safe environment for those in the home, adhering to infection prevention protocols and directions, violence prevention, and cultural safety training.
Identify staff educational needs, and work with the interdisciplinary team to set up education sessions.
Maintain a liaison with medical staff, other professional services, support services, external agencies, and licensing services that affect the day-to-day operations of the facility.
This position requires the sharing of on call responsibility for clinical advice and /or emergencies for weekends and afterhours.

Your Qualifications – The Must Have’s

Post secondary graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or diploma in Practical Nursing
Licensed as a Registered Nurse or Listened Practical Nurse and member in a good standing with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
Three to five years of related experience in a long-term care setting
Demonstrated leadership and exceptional administrative abilities
Valid Occupational First Aid Level 2 (OFA 2) certification
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills coupled with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
Computer proficiency with and intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products
Knowledge of the BC Residential Care Regulation and Community Care and Assisted Living Act
Successful annual completion of RAI MDS certification
Physical ability and emotional capacity to carry out the duties of the position
Must provide a criminal records check for the vulnerable sector
