Job Overview
We are currently seeking experienced, results-driven Instructors and Tutors to deliver one-on-one and small-group instruction. At Lux Education Group, you will do more than help students complete homework; you will act as a strategic academic mentor, implementing structured learning plans designed to unlock every student’s full potential and prepare them for elite higher education.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnostic Assessment: Evaluate each student's current baseline, identify core academic gaps or strengths, and determine the most effective strategic approach for their learning style.
- Targeted Lesson Design: Develop personalized, outcome-driven learning plans that align with school curricula (BC Curriculum, AP, or IB) or specialized exam targets.
- Progress Monitoring & Reporting: Regularly evaluate student performance and maintain meticulous internal records of progress, tracking performance metrics over time.
- Strategic Feedback: Deliver constructive, clear feedback to students, families, and our consulting team to ensure full alignment on long-term academic goals.
- Mentorship & Motivation: Build a high-standard yet supportive learning environment that instills academic discipline, confidence, and critical thinking.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mathematics, Sciences, Economics, English, or a related field (Required). A B.C. Certified Teacher (BCCT) designation is a strong asset.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of formal tutoring, teaching, or academic mentoring experience (Required). Experience teaching specialized tracks (AP, IB, or SAT) is highly preferred.
- Subject Mastery: Deep, thorough knowledge of your subject matter and the ability to break down complex, advanced concepts with clarity.
- Language Skills: Professional proficiency in English is required. Professional proficiency in Mandarin is a strong asset to seamlessly communicate progress and long-term strategy to our international families.
- Core Traits: Punctual, exceptionally organized, goal-oriented, and strictly committed to academic integrity.
Position Details & Logistics
- Job Type: Part-Time (Typically 10–20 hours per week based on student matching and your availability).
- Compensation: $25.00 – $50.00 per hour, commensurate with your academic qualifications, teaching experience, and subject tier.
- Schedule:
- School Year: Weekdays between 3:00 PM and 9:00 PM; Saturdays and Sundays between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM.
- Summer Session: Transition to flexible daytime shifts (9:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily).
- Location: Hybrid / In-Person based out of Richmond, BC.
