Salary Details: The salary range for this position is CAD $29.24/Hr. - CAD $29.24/Hr. Job Summary:

Come work as a Switchboard Operator/Receptionist with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) at GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre in Vancouver, BC! Apply now to join the team!

Within the context of a client and family centred care model and accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, works under general supervision, performs communication, information and reception services by telephone or in person to staff, clients and the public by performing duties such as operating the computerized telephone exchange, locating personnel through the use of pagers, answering services and the public address system, responding to emergencies and receiving patient items such as flowers for delivery. Performs a variety clerical duties such as typing and data entry, maintaining patient arrival lists and in-patient register records, and operating on-line computer to retrieve information as required.

G.F. Strong Rehabilitation Centre is British Columbia’s largest rehabilitation centre, offering inpatient services to patients in four unique programs:

Acquired Brain Injury Inpatient program (ABI): This program provides specialized rehabilitation services for older adolescents and adults who have sustained a brain injury, due to one of the following causes: head trauma, stroke, oxygen deprivation, infections affecting the brain, toxic exposure and brain tumours.
Neuromusculoskeletal (NMS) program: This program provides specialized rehabilitation services for older adolescents and adults who have various neuromusculoskeletal impairments and conditions that may include neuromuscular diseases, MS, Guillain-Barré syndrome, trauma, amputations, burns, and solid organ transplants.
Transitional Rehabilitation Unit (TRU): This program supports older adolescents and adult clients who are medically stable but not quite rehab-ready due to limitations of tolerance and/or other factors.
The Spinal Cord Injury Inpatient Program (SCI): This program offers specialized inpatient rehabilitation services for older adolescents and adults with varying degrees of spinal cord injuries.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

Grade 12, plus one (1) year's recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

Ability to keyboard at 45 w.p.m.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to deal with others effectively.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
Ability to organize work.
Ability to operate related equipment.
Knowledge of medical terminology.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
