About Kraken Fitness

Kraken Fitness is Burnaby's highest-rated personal training gym. We deliver life-changing results for clients who've never felt comfortable in traditional gyms through semi-private training, one-on-one sessions, structured nutrition coaching, and proven accountability systems.

This isn't a typical gym job. We have systems - proven coaching frameworks, structured nutrition protocols, and a clear progression pathway. But systems are only part of it.

We learn by doing, not by waiting for perfect conditions. Mistakes are expected - inaction is not. Growth is mandatory. If you're not developing your skills or expanding your capacity, you're falling behind.

We solve problems fully and over-deliver to clients and teammates. Direct, honest feedback is how we respect each other. Problems get surfaced early and fixed quickly.

We've built something so good that comparison with other gyms is irrelevant. We set the standard in Burnaby and Canada through execution.

If you want to master your craft and not just collect a paycheck, this is where you do it. If that doesn't resonate, this isn't for you.

The Job

Your Responsibilities:

Lead semi-private classes, 1-on-1 sessions, and tandem (2:1) training
Coach nutrition using structured frameworks and manage client accountability
Create individualized exercise programs
Conduct fitness assessments and teach our Foundations course to new clients
Attend staff meetings, professional development, and team events
Provide honest feedback to teammates
Build your client base and improve your coaching skills

Compensation Structure:

Months 1-3 (Probation):

$20/hour guaranteed for 40 hours/week
Week 1: Intensive onboarding (video training, mentorship, roleplay, hands-on coaching with experienced clients)
Weeks 2-12: Train assigned clients, shadow senior coaches, learn Kraken systems

After Probation:

Client training hours: $25-$32/hour
Non-training hours: $20-$26/hour (10 hrs/week minimum - client communication, nutrition check-ins, programming, meetings, professional development, admin duties)
Typical schedule: 20-30 client hours + 10 non-training hours per week

Career Progression: Clear advancement pathway based on performance, client retention, session volume, and leadership contributions. Plus opportunities in related career pathways (sales, marketing, client relations, operations, etc.).

Who Should Apply

Required:

Active personal training certification (NASM, ACE, CanFitPro, CSCS, etc.) OR post-secondary degree in exercise-related field
Comfortable with Google Workspace
Coachable and open to direct feedback

Strongly Preferred:

1+ years of coaching experience (we'll consider exceptional candidates with less who demonstrate rapid learning ability)
