The Role
We are looking for a dedicated, upbeat leader with a love of ice cream and great customer service to join our team as an Assistant Store Manager!
In this role, you’ll work alongside the Store Manager to keep daily operations running smoothly, support and develop our team, and make sure every guest leaves with a smile. Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead by example with professionalism, positivity, and strong customer service
- Supervise, coach, and support FOH staff to ensure smooth and efficient shifts.
- Support schedule creation and execution to balance business needs with fair staff coverage.
- Address attendance, performance, or conduct issues promptly, fairly, and confidentially.
- Foster a respectful, fun, and energetic workplace where staff feel appreciated and motivated to do their best.
Customer Service
- Ensure every guest receives a warm, welcoming, and consistent experience.
- Maintain an active floor presence to monitor service flow and staff performance.
- Respond to customer concerns and complaints quickly and professionally.
- Encourage staff to engage positively with guests and contribute to a memorable visit.
Operations & Standards
- Oversee daily FOH operations to ensure consistency, cleanliness, and efficiency across.
- Ensure accurate POS transactions, cash handling, and shift/end-of-day reporting.
- Monitor product quality and presentation at all times.
- Communicate effectively with the Production Team and upper management.
- Support the FOH Manager in keeping finance sheets and daily cash flow accurate and up to date.
Ordering & Supplies
- Track inventory levels for FOH supplies (e.g. cups, spoons, cleaning products, etc.).
- Support timely supply orders to avoid shortages while managing storage space.
- Communicate with Production regarding shared supply needs.
- Keep stock organized and ensure proper rotation of items.
Problem Solving & Decision Making
- Anticipate and address staffing or service issues before they escalate.
- Stay calm under pressure and make fair, effective decisions.
- Adapt quickly to changes in business flow and shift priorities.
- Step into full decision-making responsibilities when delegated or when the Manager is not present.
Staff Development & Growth
- Provide constructive feedback to help staff improve skills and confidence.
- Participate in hiring and training new staff and provide ongoing mentorship to the team.
- Recognize strong performance and encourage professional growth within the team.
- Contribute ideas to improve efficiency, team morale, and the overall guest experience.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure the team follows all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety guidelines.
- Report hazards, incidents, or equipment issues promptly.
- Maintain compliance with employment standards, company policies, and Vancouver Coastal health regulations.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a supervisory or team lead role in food service or retail.
- FoodSafe certification (or ability to obtain by start date).
- Able to reliably commute to store location.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills — you’re approachable, clear, and consistent.
- Comfortable with cash handling, POS systems, and basic reporting.
- A calm, solution-oriented mindset when things get busy.
- Reliable, organized, and able to take initiative without being asked.
- Flexible to work both opening and closing shifts on weekdays and weekends.
- Comfortable working on your feet in a fast-paced space
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $21.00-$23.50 per hour
