As an OR Registered Nurse, you’ll play a central role in patient safety and coordination throughout the surgical journey. Education:
- You must be a registered nurse in Canada in good standing and be eligible for registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
- Completion of a post graduate operating room course, or two years’ recent experience in an equivalent setting

Your Day to Day:
Perform surgical safety checks and advocate for patients throughout their surgical experience.
Apply sterile practice and support a safe surgical environment.
Coordinate and communicate closely with the interdisciplinary surgical team.
Manage specialized surgical equipment and technology.
Support safe specimen management and accurate clinical documentation.
Assess patients and use critical thinking to anticipate and respond to changing needs.
Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
Educate and support patients and families throughout their care.
Share your clinical knowledge and contribute to a strong, collaborative team environment.
Support evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and nursing research.
