About WePlay Centre & Tempo Volleyball
WePlay Centre is one of the largest dedicated volleyball facilities in the area, serving athletes, clubs, coaches, leagues, and families throughout the year.
The facility hosts club practices, leagues, tournaments, camps, clinics, lessons, rentals, and other volleyball programming throughout the week.
Tempo Volleyball Club is a competitive youth volleyball club based out of WePlay Centre. Tempo operates 17 competitive boys' and girls' club teams, with athletes participating in practices, tournaments, team events, and other programming throughout the season.
We are looking for someone to help manage the accounting and financial administration across our growing sports organizations, while also supporting general administrative and operational tasks when needed.
About the Role
We are hiring a full-time Accounting Assistant to help manage the day-to-day accounting, bookkeeping, payment tracking, and financial organization for our businesses.
Accounting will be the primary focus of the role.
You will work closely with management to make sure transactions are properly recorded, invoices and payments are tracked, expenses are organized, accounts are reconciled, and our financial records stay accurate and up to date.
Outside of accounting, you will also help with some general administrative work related to WePlay Centre and Tempo Volleyball Club.
This is a good opportunity for someone early in their accounting career who wants hands-on experience managing the finances and operations of growing businesses.
Accounting & Finance Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include:
- Recording and categorizing business transactions
- Maintaining accurate bookkeeping records
- Reconciling bank and credit card accounts
- Managing accounts receivable and tracking outstanding customer payments
- Helping prepare and send invoices
- Recording payments and following up on overdue invoices
- Managing accounts payable and organizing vendor bills
- Reviewing receipts, expenses, and supporting documentation
- Keeping financial records and documentation organized
- Maintaining records across multiple companies
- Assisting with payroll administration and payroll records
- Tracking employee and contractor payments
- Helping prepare information for GST/HST filings
- Assisting with month-end bookkeeping and reconciliations
- Preparing basic financial reports and spreadsheets for management
Administrative & Operations Responsibilities
When accounting responsibilities are up to date, you may also assist with:
- Responding to customer, parent, coach, or vendor inquiries
- Maintaining spreadsheets and internal records
- Organizing contracts, invoices, forms, and other documents
- Helping track facility rentals and customer payments
- Helping with Tempo Volleyball Club registrations and payment records
- Maintaining player, coach, and team information
- Assisting with club uniforms, merchandise, tournaments, and other operational projects
- Helping management with general administrative tasks
- Keeping calendars, files, and internal systems organized
What We're Looking For
- Education or experience in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or a related field
- Strong attention to detail
- Comfortable working with numbers and spreadsheets
- Highly organized and reliable
- Experience with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
- Strong written communication skills
- Willing to take ownership of recurring responsibilities
- Professional and trustworthy when handling confidential financial information
Experience with QuickBooks Online is a strong asset.
Experience with invoicing, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, or bookkeeping is also an asset.
Previous experience in the sports industry is not required.

Work Environment
This position is primarily based at WePlay Centre in Markham.
Unlike a traditional accounting office, you will be working directly inside a growing sports organization and will have visibility into how the businesses operate.
You will work closely with management and have the opportunity to take increasing ownership over the financial administration of WePlay Centre, Tempo Volleyball Club, and related operations as you become more familiar with the businesses.
Pay: From $17.60 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
