About the Event
SDR Academy is hosting The Shield in the GTA, an elite female hockey event and spring/summer program that brings together 2011 to 2014 born athletes for high-level competition, coaching, development, and exposure.
We are looking to add experienced hockey people to support the event throughout the week.
If you do not have hockey experience, please do not apply.
We are hiring for three roles:
- Bench Coaches
- Referees
- Timekeepers
What You Will Do Bench Coaches
- Coach and manage benches during games and scrimmages
- Help organize players, lines, and basic game structure
- Support a positive, competitive environment for female athletes
- Communicate clearly with players, staff, and event leads
Referees
- Officiate games, scrimmages, and small-area games
- Maintain game flow, safety, and professionalism
- Communicate clearly and calmly with coaches and players
- Help create a competitive but controlled environment
What We Are Looking For
- Located in or able to commute to the GTA
- Strong hockey background
- Played or coached at a competitive minor, junior, college, or senior level
- Or significant experience as an official
- Comfortable working with female athletes in the 2011 to 2014 age group
- Reliable, professional, and on time
- Able to work assigned event shifts daytime and evening between Tuesday, July 21 and Sunday, July 26
Previous coaching, refereeing, timekeeping experience is an asset, but formal certifications are not strictly required if your playing or hockey background is strong.
Schedule
Event dates: Tuesday, July 21 to Sunday, July 26
Location: Honey and Barry Memorial Arena, GTA
Staff schedules will be confirmed based on role, availability, and event needs. Applicants do not necessarily need to be available for every single day, but priority will be given to those who can commit to multiple shifts throughout the event.
Staff arrival times will be slightly earlier than assigned ice times for check-in, role assignments, and event instructions.
