Full job description

R+A Engineering is looking for an intermediate structural engineer to join our Vernon team. This is a role for someone three to five years into their career who wants real project responsibility, working directly with our principals and a strong team of EITs and technologists.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You would work across our full range of building structural projects: multi-family and mixed-use housing, custom homes, commercial, and institutional work across western Canada. Depending on your experience, you would take on structural design, analysis, drawing production and detailing, and construction administration, with increasing ownership as you grow.

You would be supported, not thrown in the deep end. You would have principals and senior engineers close at hand for mentorship and review, and you would be given work that challenges you at a pace you can handle.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

· A degree in engineering with 3-6 years of structural experience

· Registration as an E.I.T. or P.Eng. with EGBC

· A solid working knowledge of the BCBC, including wood construction and seismic design

· A strong working knowledge of the BCBC

· Multi-family residential experience is an asset, but not required.

· A practical approach to design and an understanding of how buildings are actually built

· Strong written and verbal communication

· Experience with Sizer/Forte, SAFE, ETABS, RFEM, and Revit is an asset

LOCATION

This role is based in our Vernon office, with a hybrid schedule available. We value the in-person collaboration and mentorship that come from working alongside the team, which matters most at this stage of your career.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

· Base salary of $80,000 to $110,000, depending on experience

ABOUT THE AREA

Vernon sits between lakes, mountains, and vineyards in the North Okanagan. The area offers endless outdoor adventures, from hiking and biking to climbing and beaches. SilverStar and Sovereign Lake are just a short drive away, and the Kelowna International Airport is nearby when you're ready for adventure beyond the Okanagan.

We care about doing good work at a pace you can sustain. Long hours are not the expectation.
