Our Opportunity:

We currently have an opening for both a Journeyperson Refrigeration Mechanic to join our company in the Okanagan region. We are a quality minded company that promotes a positive culture of values and encourages personal and professional growth. Jones is a union company, and our refrigeration mechanics are members of UA Local 516, applicants must be willing to join the union. Company Background:

At Jones Food Store Equipment, we supply, install, and service refrigeration equipment primarily for supermarkets throughout British Columbia. Founded in 1971, our strong relationships with the leaders in the industry are built on a foundation of integrity and innovation. We work with architects, general contractors, and store owners on small to large scale supermarket refrigeration installation and renovation projects.

Position Overview:

As a Journeyperson, you will oversee commercial refrigeration and HVAC repairs and preventative maintenance including troubleshooting, diagnosing, ordering materials, completing repairs, completing paperwork, and providing training for apprentice technicians on various job sites.

Specific Skills

Utilise hand and power tools
Repair refrigeration equipment
Operate tools, gauges and other testing equipment
Handle, recover, and store refrigerants
Remove and replace refrigeration components
Commission systems and test for leaks

Qualifications / Competencies

Skilled trade experience preferred
Experience repairing, installing and commissioning refrigeration systems in supermarkets is a definite asset
CO2 Refrigeration experience
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
Excellent electrical troubleshooting skills
Able to analyze and interpret construction and schematic drawings, technical literature, and equipment specifications
Self-motivated and team-oriented; a capable mentor for the team
Career oriented with an interest in ongoing technical and professional training
Available for local day or night work with some on call required.
Take pride in delivering quality work and upholding rigorous standards; ability to independently apply our processes and procedures
Effectively communicate in English, both written and verbal.
Class 5 driver’s license
Valid Refrigeration Journeyperson Certificate or enrolled in training
